One of the best Championship games I can remember. Heck of a game. I posted this the other day, but I was a pretty big UK fan in HS, in part b/c of Pitino. Always liked him as a coach. Did I hear right that he is the first coach to win a NC at two schools? That is crazy.

Not a big Pitino fan because I think he is a huge sleaze as a person, but he can really coach. He lets his kids play and it really shows.

I always hate to say it but the game in 1988 was a pretty good one itself. It's the only one I've ever seen and always wish it had been different but what can you do. I always try to remember what a great game the one on Saturday was(Doesn't help).

Does anyone see a little Dave Seiger in that Hancock from Louisville? Maybe just a little.

And sigh. We didn't make the cut on One Shining Moment. Neither did little brother.

I'm a die-hard Kentucky fan...

And thus, I dont care for Pitino.

I was rooting for Michigan :facepalm

Three of the four Elite-8 games were blowouts.

I thought all three games at this Final-4 in Atlanta were very good college basketball games. All four teams in Atlanta showed very well.

Gosh, I look forward to the day when the Sooners play with the effort and intensity of any of those four teams. I enjoy watching players and teams compete like that.

Of course the good teams have players that make shots. (duh) But more importantly, they just fight and compete harder. The will to win is there for all to see.

Yep. We have a ways to go to get to that level, but we're on the right path. It was amazing watching all those natural scorers on the court at the same time. Shooters. Slashers. Just a lot of natural scoring ability. I think that is the single biggest thing OU is lacking. Those teams were bringing guys off the bench that were better scorers than most, if not all, of our starters.

I know that both Lon Kruger and Steve Henson were hard-nosed, court-savvy "fighters" as point guards at K-State back in the day. They also could make shots.

They now have five young guards in the program that are their guys. Their recruits. I believe all three freshmen (soon to be sophomores) have some untapped offensive talent that can be developed. I observed "flashes" of offensive potential from all three. Over the next few years we shall see how good the coaches are as teachers, and how good these young guards are as students.

There is some natural talent there to work with.

I also like what I have seen of the new guards coming in.

You're right. If anyone can teach them about playing big time guard it would be Kruger. How his knowledge will translate to them and how they will process it is another thing.
