New Alts

I don't think anyone is saying most recruits only come for the unis, but with today's kids, uniform diversity is one of many factors. These young kids play video games where they can change uniforms, create fantasy scenarios, etc. Our University is smart enough to keep up with current trends, ans stay in touch with the youth of today. Locker room perks, coaches who use social media, team cookouts and other functions at the coaches house, and all forms of technology are in play when recruiting kids today. Uniforms are a big part of it, like it or not.

There is a video out there of the football team seeing the new alternate uniforms for the first time. Their reaction will tell you all you need to know about how the kids feel about uniforms. Some of our recent best players were present that day....

Do they play defense?

I just think you reach a certain point as a program where you don't have to pander to the next best thing. I know I'm a dinosaur. I know the times are changing because I've seen some of the trash Notre Dame has worn in the past few seasons. I just hoped we'd be above it. I don't see Alabamuh trotting out new unis. I think our normal set was just perfect. I'm sure I'll come around to these goofy fonts and numbers (man does that 44 look bad, regardless of coverage) but I just don't like whipping around chasing the latest whim.

We're OKLAHOMA for crying out loud. Bring the Wood? C'mon!

Gray?! Baloney!

Sorry for the rant. This is a hot-button issue with me. I'm not some mouthbreather. I can acknowledge there is an other side to this. I'm up for a little debate here and there. But you're going to have to work real hard to convince me that what we're wearing now is an improvement over the clean look we sported against Auburn in the Sugar Bowl a couple of years ago. Our reds under those lights? Flawless.

I actually love the traditional look, being a Sooner fan from the 70's myself, but the new looks have grown on me. I don't mind the few alts we break out, I just don't want to become Oregon or os-who with their 1888888 combinations. I mostly agree with every point you made 04, but I also recognize the need to stay in touch with the kids.

The font for the 4 is horrible

Way too bulky. Looks like a 9

Beautiful pics! So your beef is with Jim Mackenzie for turning us into Arkansas West in 1966?

I will probably come around to just about anything, but the Paperclip hurts. HURTS. It's been essentially the same since the 1968 season! We suffered through the Disco OU and the Running OU but the Paperclip remained.

WVU's font looks like numbers cut out of construction paper by distracted four-year-olds.

But hey, if the recruits like it!

I do therapy sessions every day with some distracted 4 yr olds. Some of them are very creative, lol....:D:D

Gray? Why? For recruits? If we're getting a player who comes here just for the uniforms we're getting the wrong kind of player.

I don't want them either....

....well unless they're good.
