Newell gave some good minutes tonight

He had been in a funk recently but tonight I thought he gave some good minutes in a reserve role. Hope to see more of it as we close out the season

Yeah, he had a nice kick out to Pledge for a 3 and knocked down that long 2 (toe on the line again!) with confidence. He never seemed lost or out of control, which is probably the first time all season that I could say that about him, very encouraging.

Did you see that crossover that "broke" the ankles of the defender? This kid is a slasher/scorer. I wish he got more minutes at the 2 guard spot. If we get Cezar, I hope Newell is the first man off the bench next year.

Cezar, Pledger, Cam, Fitz, and Osby, with Newell, Neal, Goff, Washington, and Blair coming off the bench. WOW! Not an elite team, but tons better than this year. That lineup SHOULD be a NCAA team.

Did anyone notice that we played better tonight when Newell was running point? As soon as Blair came back in everytime, we lost the lead. Just saying! Blair is horrendous. Too many turnovers, too slow, horrible alley-oops, out of control drives to the basket, etc. etc. etc. etc.

He still dribbled himself into trouble a few times, but you can see that he is very athletic and if he can play under control, he could be a weapon. Was pleased with how he played last night.

Agreed. The more comfortable he gets, the better he will get. He definitely shows some flashes at times.
