She would have been better off at OU and vice-versa, but obviously decided not to come after the official visit. Coaches are typically very interested, ready to sign the recruit and done enough research if they go as far to invite a recruit/transfer on an official visit. The recruit does not get an official visit unless an offer has been made.
Maryland...It was going to be hard to displace Toliver and Doron, but Gatewood did very well when she was in the game. I remember key plays by her to beat UCONN in the last seconds of a game.
And relative to this thread...the lack of consistent strategic recruiting of top 10 players beyond the 2005 has caused us to be in the position we're in now...wondering about next year and this year is not done.
EDIT: And...she was not only a "star" when she arrived at Tennessee, but a very gifted point guard and quite humble based on what I remember. She was injured when she arrived at Summit Land, sat out about 1/2 the season and the surgery was performed AFTER helping them to get to the FF. Remember, CParker was injured and a redshirt that year as well. They had signed about 5 McDonald AA's (SWG, CParker, Hornbuckle, ...) and SWG was definitely tagged to be their starting PG. She committed to Tennessee when she was in the 7th or 8th grade. Some of us bay area fans wondered why we never saw Summit at a Piedmont (Paris twins) or Oakland Tech (AGL and DH) high school game and learned that they only had one scholarship for the 2005 class. I know my CA girls basketball players and SWG...she's still the best PG that ever played in the state. I find it very unusual for her to have taken an official visit to OU, her dad (a coach) tells OKNews that she's basically heading to OU, then she lands in Maryland after the visit. I think her high school resume speaks for itself. The injury changed everything it appears...

These are the types of players that OU has had on their campus and never signed. What kind of "problem" could she be? Not getting enough turnovers?
