Nice Brady Manek Highlights

Nice post, he apparently had a really good summer.

2017 Brady Manek probably gets called "deceptively athletic" but he's flat out athletic. Has a great work rate, along with a good jumper

Perhaps it’s tough to call a high major commit like Brady Manek, who will go to Oklahoma, a breakout performer. But the truth is Manek hasn’t received much national attention and based on our viewing at the Great American Shoot out, it’s warranted.

Manek, a 6-foot-7 versatile forward, has a wide set of shoulders and lengthy arms. He’s mobile and runs the floor with a purpose. Offensively, he’s gifted. He has very good hands and nice touch around the basket.

Where Maneky impresses the most may be in pick and pop situations, as his long-range shot is a weapon. But he’s not just a shooter, he’s able to deck the ball and finish at the rim.

Manek, lacks strength at this stage, has sneaky bounce and is a candidate to snag an offensive rebound and flush it back, as he did twice in our viewing.

This, not bad at all to be able to drop step dunk that easily, even at 6'-7". Just a plus if he is expected to be a shooter coming in.

Yeah Brady is a legit 6'9 now. I've also heard he had a great summer! Could be a big steal by the time he gets to Norman.

Great stuff by all. Thanks, guys!

If Sam Duren says Manek is "deceptively athletic," you can take it to the bank. Sam was one of the original admins here. He's not prone to exaggerate a player's ability.

Judging by the reports, Manek's performance this summer may serve to launch him onto the national stage, thereby proving that our coaches knew what they were doing by convincing him to commit early. If he's still growing, as some seem to think, he could be viewed as a major get by the time he's a senior.

Can't remember where I saw it, but a month or so ago, I saw an interview of Manek where he was asked what his height was and he said something like he was over 6'8 and over 6'9 in shoes. If this is true, then he is plenty tall enough to play inside in college.

I have posted on here before that I think he is going to be really good. I have seen him play several times. Caveat: I'm no expert and incorrectly predicted on a kid. But, he is goofy long, athletic, can really shoot the ball from beyond the 3 line the entire 180 degree arc, and has exceptional handles for a big. He also is really savvy and knows how to play. You can tell he grew up getting beat on by an older brother. Nobody but me seems to think he is going to be special, so maybe he isn't as good as I think. But, I think he is not just going to be good, but be really special. JMO.

He is a beanpole though.

We all hope you're right cowboy. Heck, not many people thought Buddy was going to be "special" when we signed him. Glad we were wrong.

The staff believes he will develop into an NBA quality player.

He is a beanpole though.

If he has not started filling out, then he is probably still growing.

Yeah, I agree. My 11 year old grandson who lives in Edmond is worried about being a beanpole. He's 5'4" but only weighs 100 pounds. His dad is 6'5" and was built the same way. You see a lot of kids who don't fill out until they quit growing into their height.

I'm not worried about Manek's stature before his senior year of HS. He has plenty of time to fill out.
