I am not trying to be negative but how can this guy become captain of our team and he can not play basketball. He is 6'9" and stands outside the post area, is our tallest guy and can not rebound, he does not shoot, can't pass. Capel was stating how solid of a player he is, does this show what a bad evaluator of talent Capel is?

Like Capel said, "He wants Thompson to get involved early and often because he's a good offensive player and he can score"

for maybe UCO or East Central....but as a Major D1 player he is average...has the skills to be better, but not the motor or the personality...

He's not very good. He has a guard mentality trapped in a 6'8 frame. He should be at the D2 level which sadly describes this team this year.

coolm is refering to the the games prior to Maui where he actually looked like a solid passer. His best game being the opener when he had 7 assists, that people wouldn't have seen if they didn't go to the game.

I think what people are saying is Thompson has had a 8 and 7 assist games already this year. As a 4! Yes they were against scrub teams, and he can't create against good teams to utilize his passing. But he is a good passer. Now good everything else? As of right now he needs to change everything about his approach to games and toughness. Period.

I think he has created some shot opportunites for himself, he just won't pull the trigger. I don't think he's a PG like i've been hearing latley, but he's made a couple nice moves to get in the lane, but that doesn't count for anything if he won't shoot the ball. But I agree with your post.

The kid averaged 8.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists in JUCO at Eastern Utah. Did we really expect big things from him?
