Nino Jackson and Stevie Clark

Are there rules to when a college can extend an official offer?

Not to my knowledge. Coaches have been in the news for offering 7th/8th graders... I think a frosh and a Jr. would be fine!

Stevie Clark is still 5'7. That's really hard to offer a guy 5'8 that early. Page was offered after his frosh year, but I don't know if Clark is like Page.

Clark is more of a pure point isnt he???

Yeah he is a true PG. I know he is 5'7/8, but he is bound to grow. Drew Lavendar was that tall and K Page is that tall.

I dont know much about him but from what I read he is legit.

No way, not from what I've seen. He is much more Rotnei Clarke than Keiton Page. He is a shooter deluxe but never ran the point for Douglass. Doesn't mean he can't but he isn't overly quick and when he has the ball he rarely did anything to create for anyone else.

The guy writing the article said no one could keep Clark in front of them. To me that sounds like he was running the pg.

I watched Douglass against Capitol Hill and came away pretty impressed with Clark, I also came away pretty disappointed with Buxton-Hill. CHHS had no size inside and he really didn't use his size to his advantage. The twins for Douglass seemed better prospects and if they can grow another 2-3 inches would probably warrant some serious looks. I think they probably go around 6'5 or so, good range shooting and good ups. Most of the players for Douglass seemed to have a really good looking stroke on their jumpers compared to what I usually witness from high school players.

I really hope Nino keeps improving, will be nice to have a Major recruit out of Ardmore in basketball...it has been several years since the last...some D1 recruits/players since 1995:

Merrill Andrews (Soutwest Missouri State via Northern)
Deshone Henderson (was a High Major recruit until he tore his ACL senior yr)
Jermaine Gresham (was a very solid basketball player, probably mid/high major)
Lionel Brown (North Texas via Eastern)
Garrett Pelton (Drake)
Mike Allen (Coastal Carolina via Eastern)
JJ Moore (Coastal Carolina via Eastern)
Derrick Moore (Tulane...was recruited by OU)

Did hear a rumor that it was possible Nino wont be returning to Ardmore next year, something to keep an eye on...

That Ardmore pride is shining through. Ardmore had some great teams.

Edmond,

What happened to De'Shone was a real shame. The light came on for that dude when he was about 15 and he morphed from OK to stud almost overnight. He got to play an exhibition game inside the LNC his senior year when he was at UCO. That was nice to see.

Merrill Andrews actually ran the point at SW Missouri (or Missouri State, whatever you want to call it). They made the finals of the MVC Tournament and I saw him on ESPN. I about fell out of my chair considering he played power forward on those lightning quick Ardmore teams in '99 and 2000.

Not really, it just says he was taking people off the dribble. Which is really encouraging, the hard thing is to know what type of D was being played. Either way it's really good news that he is getting more aggressive off the dribble because it wasn't necessarily what was the case during the season.

Buxton-Hill isn't very good at all, imo.

He will be a point guard at the next level imo. The main reason that he didn't get to play much point at Douglass this year was because the Trojans have three upperclassmen that can all play the point on their team.

I agree with the original premise of this thread and think OU should offer both of these kids.

He'll be a PG in the same way that Keiton Page is a PG. His primary weapon will always be his jumpshot. The problem with that is it will always be his first option and passing will be second.

All the criticism of Kyle Hardrick being on scholarship, and people are saying we need to offer these underclassmen already.

Great point. At least with Hardrick you were offering a 6'7 Freshman rather than a 5'7 freshman! :)

Yea, with Deshone rumors were that Kansas was in on him...in the first few games he played that year he was averaging 20 pts a half...pretty salty...he scored 20 in that game against OU, he was a solid player...

Merrill was one of my favorite, kinda took him under my wing when he was at Ardmore...he was pure athlete and had a motor that never stopped...he handled it a lot at ardmore but was too small to run anything but guard in college...if it wasnt for Southern Illinois and their solid teams SWMS would have been in the tourney his last year...
