even if we won the tourney would have been Maybe a 5 seed. Get some rest and hope for good match ups.

If we hit some Wide Open shots everything is OK. Hopefully we got our bad shooting night out of the way.

Something positive to consider is this: OU had a bad night shooting and was still better than 34% from 3 point range as a team.

Eh I think if they won the tournament they would've been a 3. A 4 seed for making it to the finals

This is a bad loss due to the timing. Might drop us to a 6, win the tourney we are a 3. We were awful tonight, killed in the paint only 1 2 point basket first 12 minutes of the game. Never in it worst conference performance this year.

I do not think we will drop lower than a 5 seed. We had a chance at maybe a 3 if some other results went our way and we won the Big 12 tourney.

It is all up to the matchup now.

The game sucked and was a huge disappointment. Hopefully they'll get it together quickly.

We trailed by four late in the game -- that's "in it" by any reasonable standard.

And late in the game the announcers said both we and Baylor had 20 points in the paint.

It's not a bad loss. A five-point loss to a highly regarded squad (they were ranked in the top ten and they're currently the conference's hottest team) is not a bad loss.

A frustrating loss? A disappointing one? Absolutely. And no one's more frustrated and disappointed than I am. But we beat that same team twice this season, and a five-point loss in our third match-up will draw strong reactions from OU fans only. If anything, we'll get credit for fighting back from an awful first half and making a tight game of it. Did you not hear the announcers at the end of the game? They were praising us as much, if not more, than Baylor.

If we won the tourney we would have been a four no doubt and prob a three

Lon really needs a win next week - so far in his time at OU we haven't won a post season game yet.

We need to win a tournament game. Period. No ****ing excuses. Just win

OU had 26 points in the ain't compared to 20 by Baylor. It is right on the official sats linked above.

This is a bit of a veiled stat. They were also 23-35 from the free throw line. Many of those fouls originated in the paint.

agreed. there are a lot of coaches who SWEAR they'd rather rest up than go far in their conference tourney.

Absolutely correct. Their front line went 10-18 from the line. Our front line 0-1. Their guards also picked up fouls primarily penetrating in the paint. Their starting guards were 9-9 ours 3-4.

Definitely one of those rare games where the stat box can be totally misleading. The Sooners lead Baylor 26-20 on points in the paint and 20-15 on second chance points when in reality we were intimidated on the inside.

Man, a lot of strange assertions in this thread. No way and hell a loss to Baylor gets us the same seed as victories over Baylor, Texas, and ISU/Kansas. We have a loss instead of three quality wins, including which might have been our best win of the season.

A 5/12 or 6/11 could easily be a game we're an underdog in. A 14 would be a conference champ from a week conference and we'd likely be a ten point plus favorite.

Plus, we would have a conference (tournament) championship, a third win over Texas, and probably a top 10 ranking in the final poll.

And the fact that we hit 34% from three means we didn't have a bad shooting night, at least from three. We lost to an OK Baylor team on a night were we didn't shoot the ball poorly. But that's about the same as three wins and a banner.

I'm just glad we got Baylor instead of WVU last night like most on this board wanted...

That is exactly why I thought it was silly to sit around and worry about it. Like I said last night, there really isn't much of a difference between teams 2 (OU) thru 8 (osu). There just isn't.

And I agree with that. But WVU was the better matchup for us right now and anyone who came on here and said that before the game was in the minority on this board.

not a huge deal ... baylor is playing great right now 9 of 10 .. and as is always said it is hard to beat a team 3 times in a row
