No Big Deal with Loss - OU still a 5 seed and

not a huge deal ... baylor is playing great right now 9 of 10 .. and as is always said it is hard to beat a team 3 times in a row

Baylor is playing excellent ball right now. Winning 9 out of 10 in the Big-12 this year is very impressive. Congrats to Baylor. I think they will do well in the NCAAs.

If Lon and this group of OU players continue to go win-less in the post-season, then THAT will become a heavy monkey on their backs. Next week is huge for the Sooners. They need to win the 5/12 (or 6/11) game to confirm that they are worthy of a 5 or 6 seed.

Baylor has been on a mission and has "played hungry" or "with desperation" in recent weeks. The OU team needs to play this way; like they are desperate for a win in the NCAAs.

The OU football program is currently reaping the benefits of their Sugar Bowl win, in recruiting and increased enthusiasm in off-season workouts. The basketball program can also gain some positive momentum with a win (or two) in the NCAAs.

Gotta win the first one. Gotta get that first win.

I had a bad feeling about this from the get-go. Baylor was a lock by the "experts," but it's still playing catch-up after its terrible conference start. Meanwhile, OU was going to either be a 4 or 5 seed either way, which isn't a very big difference. If anything, I was impressed OU hung in there despite shooting so poorly, having so few FT attempts, and with Baylor shooting so well.

The Sooners will be fine. I think the Sweet 16 is very realistic.

I'm disappointed with the loss, no doubt. However, it's not that disheartening to lose by 5 to one of the few teams that can match us athletically, a team that has won 9/10, a team that probably played their best game of the season, while literally no one on our team played well and we were outscored by 18 from the stripe. Call me a pumper, that's fine. But, last night's game does nothing to change my perception of the team. It's basketball, weird things happen. Last night we ran into the hottest team in our conference and we didn't play well. We certainly could be a one-and-done next week, but we could just as easily make an Elite 8 run if we play well. This team's best is good enough to beat anyone in the country. Everyone calm down and enjoy the fact that Kruger has gotten this program back to where it needs to be and trending upward.

That was a really disappointing game. Our team seems to fall into the trap most young teams in believing all the praise following success without considering that there is always an opponent who is motivated to beat you and not just provide a venue for you to show off your amazing skills.

That said, when was the last time a Sooner team made it through an entire season without a blowout loss. There were several games where we fell behind by what appeared to portend a blowout but we usually recover to where there is an opportunity late in the game to take the lead or win the game.

OU will be a 4 or 5 seed still...that loss doesn't hurt at all.

Not entirely true. It might drop us from a 4 to a 5. That hurts a bit. It also keeps us from playing 1-2 more games, that MIGHT have elevated us to a 3.

There is a fairly big difference in getting a 4 seed and a 5 seed.

But we'll never know that. OU was slated as a 4/5 before the Big XII tournament by different publications. IMO, outside beating KU, OU was locked in to one of those seeds...beating Baylor and UT again doesn't really differentiate us against some of the other teams (since we already beat them).

SMU rpi down to 52. Jerry Palm has them in his last 4 in. The Larry Brown factor is at play here. It's a nice story. On the merits they don't deserve a bid IMO.

I agree and think the only way we would have gotten onto that 4 line was by least getting into the finals and probably winning the tourney by beating KU. I don't think a 3 was ever on the table especially when you start breaking down resumes - our OOC schedule was ok but we had 0 marquee wins.
