You're slacking Sooner fans. We need some kind of entertainment right now.

Unfortunately, much like with Bob in football, Lon has earned the right to stay on as long as we wants, unless we become an absolute dumpster fire. We won't get that bad (I don't think).

And for the record, I never wanted Bob gone, but a lot of folks did.

yeah, I thought Stoops should stay as long as he ever wanted. He kept OU meaningful on a national level and was doing things cleanly. That always meets my football expectations.

Lon may leave but it will be on his own. I thought Bob Stoops stayed a little to long, became a little lacking in recruiting.

Lon got us a Final Four 2 years ago - for me especially with him doing things the right way I can live with certain things in terms of wins and losses because of that. With all that said if we continue this slide and finish 11-20 next year there will be noise.

When the going gets tough blame the coach. Lon has a long track record of success, it wasn't an accident. Now if the kids he recruits consistently under achieve then perhaps there is something to say but that takes longer than three or four seasons immediately following a final four. Now I think I have a good sense about the people summoning heat into this situation and I prefer not to have you in my lifeboat after a disaster.

I don’t want Lon gone, but I think he did make a big mistake with his 2 assistant hires. Losing Henson and Hill was a big loss, made bigger by replacing them with who we hired.

Lon is a great guy and proven that he's a good coach. But last year was the worst in OU history and this current free fall is a disaster. If next year is the same then absolutely OU needs to start looking. Last year ate up pretty much all the FF capital for me. Like I was telling my wife on my way back from the game, the opposite of what is happening now, should be happening. OU should have capitalized on the FF to recruit better players and continue to build the program. Instead, the disaster of last year now this year? Shouldn't have had to come to this.

Probably because they realize that it is a fool's errand. OU doesn't fire coaches.

I am not happy with the season although we do still lack talent. However, I am most disappointed in lack of coaching on the defensive side.

But it could be worse. Lon has made us a respected program, runs a clean program, and is a very nice person. That said, I wouldn’t be upset if he decided to retire. I next want a coach at OU who recruits tough guys and makes them tougher.

Exactly.

And you can mark me down as done with Kruger.

Lon Kruger and Bob Stoops should never be mentioned in the same sentence.

Might want to check the thread about Houston & Sampson before starting this. #research

He hasn't done a good job this year that's for sure. It's inexcusable that McGusty and Doolittle don't have an established place on the roster or that the Freemans and Lazenby's of the world are getting minutes over them. Honestly I think some of our problems additionally stem from Lon's strange unwillingness to recruit a big man who can score. What I wouldn't give for a 6'7/6'8 230lb+ guy that could give me 15 a game inside and force the other team to foul him like Tashawn Thomas. Maybe Doolittle is that guy but he's not getting the playing time to show it. The shot blockers and stretch 4s are a nice luxury but you just can't ignore inside players like we have.

I said earlier in the year that if we had Shaq Morris on our roster we might be a final 4 team. Maybe final 4 was a stretch but there's no doubt in my mind that we would be much better.

I don’t get why Lon is so sold on long, lean, skinny post players as the answer to our inability to score and rebound inside? Now that 6’ 9” 173 juco transfer, Kur Kauth, is a commit in our 2019 class, it’s clear his obsession didn’t end with Khadeem and Jamuni.

I haven’t forgotten about Hannes Polla. While I’m not overly impressed so far, it’s too early to tell if he’ll be the big we usually see on the teams we have played the last couple of years.
