Nydia Lampkin

This was the under rated piece of the recruiting class.

You just looked at her film, and kept wondering why was she rated so low.
If Shaina should have been a top fifty recruit and her frosh year certainly validated
that statement. Lampkin's film said the same thing to me.

That's some pretty high praise from Sherri (who doesn't BS much).

If Lampkin is as good as coach says, then she's going to start over EJ (who has never been impressive IMHO).

Maybe Sherri says let's just start all over this year except for Shaina and Ana.

This 5 would be dang interesting to watch from the get-go:

Ventenheimer
Pellington
Ana
Williamws
Nydia.

That easily could are the most talented squad we've put on the floor since the twins, Amanda and D-Rob.

Dee is a interesting player, in highlights she looks like she could be as good as the Smith kid headed to Baylor, but seeing her with 6’4 EJ in the video above, it’s no way she’s 6’3, she also moves well and can shoot, her best position like Madi is probably somewhere on the wing.... one thing I’ve seen from her in highlights is she really looks to score the ball, I think having a player who will shoot the ball almost everytime she touches it is something OU needs, we haven’t had a player like that in a while.

Shay/Tatum
Ana
Madi
Dee
EJ would probably be a more Traditional starting 5 for OU, so it could be a battle for the starting point guard position.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, I remember Sherri as having made the statement that she was looking for mobile posts who could get out and move. I think she made the remark with reference to Nydia. Bloom, who comes in next year, is a rather mobile 6-4 who likes to drive and face the rim.

Does that mean that she envisions Nydia as the prototype of the future post? That would seem to fly in the face of recruiting a 6-6 post like Kennedy Brown who, I think, is more traditional. But, I do get the feeling that Sherri wants to run. I would cite Arizona State and UCLA as examples, but I think she remembers Wooden, who only sat on his heels when he had Alcindor.

I wonder if we won't see a mix of styles with Nydia as the post when we play pressure and run? Williston and EJ would be more traditional. I don't see EJ as a running post. I think we may well get our post from these three with the rest of the team on the fly.

It strikes me that Williams, Shaina, Ana, Murcer, Tatum, and Taylor are more inclined to run and shoot.

Well, we all know Sherri loves a 4-1 line-up with four guards who can shoot and rebound.

So anything wouldn't surprise me at this early stage.

However, I'm just not sold that EJ is a starter by conference. Maybe in the preseason.

While she has not really had a lot of playing time, I just don't think she's going to be the difference maker we need at the 5. I've just never been impressed with her performances. I just think Lampkin gets the nod there -- unless, she is shorter than her listed 6-4, as a number of you are now saying.

I'm reading between the lines using my own thinking, but I think Sherri may shake things up. I'm pretty sure Pellington starts, but really, if the new ladies pan out, she may be the first off the bench.

Times seem to be changing and I'm not so sure Sherri hasn't followed Bob and gotten a bit of a resurgence going on as she heads into what are likely to be her last 3-5 years coaching.

You get that from a well-placed source in the athletic department? Or is Stanley sending you PMs from heaven? ;)

Sherri is indeed getting up in age, it’s totally possible that she does have about 5 years to go....

It's just my opinion. No insider information. Sherri's always seemed the type of person to me that would like to have a life outside of basketball and she'll be pushing 60 by then. Of course, she might coach until she's 90.

I just don't think so. I believe she has other interests and might like to slow down. We all do at some point.
