give this really good article a read if you're interested in the world of blue chip recruiting.

this kid lives outside of Seattle and mentions a lot of the same aspects and lifestyle being discussed regarding Avery Bradley, others. these kids hopping on private jets every other weekend. even mentions factors in Texas a few times.

it was the cover story in the Sunday NY Times Magazine a few weeks back. nytimes.com is free.

There is a decent chance that this kid will be nothing special by the time he is 18 or 19. Anybody seen Hoop Dreams?

Wow. The term "netherworld" used in the article to describe the world of grassroots basketball seems to sum it all up for me.

I hope the kid finds success.

Fascinating article. Thanks for posting.

At first i thought this was allonzo, but it seems like a different kid.

Maybe we should recruit him. :D

if interested check out the new doc called "Gunnin' for that #1 Spot", which is much more relevant in today's world of basketball than Hoop Dreams, which is defintely showing its age.

it focuses on guys like Brandon Jennings, Jerryd Bayless, Kevin Love, Kyle Singler, Lance Stephenson, others.

imdb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1204298/

Thanks for the heads up... Enjoyed it. Very interesting. Jennings seems like he has issues and "Born whatever" seems to have had an attitude for awhile to say the least...While Fatty is right Beasley is a funny cat :ez-laugh:

For those of you with Utorrent(get it here http://download.cnet.com/uTorrent/3000-2196_4-10528327.html) or similar...

http://www.mininova.org/search/?search=gunnin'+for+that+#1+spot&cat=0

btw if your internet security doesn't like the site(mininova.org) its cuz just about anything can be uploaded for download to this site just be careful of what you d/l off the site. I have d/l this exact file and it is clean and legit. FWIW.

side note...d/l peerguardian if you are gonna use Utorrent...(http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/) some people get touchy about free downloads :p

More than likely we won't ever hear the name again, not that I am rooting against the kid, hope he succeeds.

These camps sound horrifying, and the instruction they receive could easily wait a few years. If anything, it sounds like a lot of scum bags taking advantage of very young and naive kids -- aided by a few parents who are more concerned with the possibility of their children playing in the N.B.A, then protecting their child.
Also, Zo's workout sounds like it will only hurt him in the end. I'm not a trainer or anything, but the stress he's putting on his knees can't be good. He could end up a 19 year old with a body to ravaged to have an N.B.A. career.

P.s. the Hoop Scoop guy sounds like he is in dire need of a serious ass kicking.

Not sure if this is NEW news or not... But this kid is now in Oklahoma... Playing for the Oklahoma City Storm Homeschoolers...

I know this thread is from 2009...

Thanks for the interest. We just finished up an interview with Allonzo and I personally came away very impressed with him. He seemed mature beyond his age. There are some interesting details in the interview that I hope readers to this site enjoy. Attached is a video link provided by The Oklahoman's high school beat writer Robert Pryzbylo.

Pryzbylo has been very helpful in identifying some of the high school players that we have been highlighting on this site.

You find out what brought him here? Im guessing its athletes first?

I apologize, but that was really a question that I didn't feel comfortable asking a 14, soon to be 15 year old kid, but I understand your curiosity. Most basketball observers know the politics of summer basketball and make no mistake about it, he will be one of if not the hottest prospect on the Oklahoma basketball scene. I do encourage anyone if you're in the OKC area or if Trier and the OKC storm are in your area to watch this young prospect. I sincerely feel you'll be watching a future NBA player.
