That team is going to be insane. From all accounts he looked very good in his workouts.

That's a perfect situation for Greg Oden. On a bad team, he would be expected to perform at a very high level. This is already the best team the NBA and he will be the 4th or 5th option on offense. His job will be to play defense, protect the rim, rebound, and dunk.

If healthy and if he returns to form, he will make an already great team much better.

I am actually rooting for him.

He really was dealt a raw hand with all those physical issues. I hope he gets to play a few years in the league and experience some success after all the tribulation he has endured.

hoping the thunder would have got him.

Hard to root against him but with him being on the heat, I will have to

I'm also rooting for him. Would be nice if he can end up having a good NBA career.

We could have afforded him too, as he signed for about 1 million. I'm wondering if the reason he showed no interest in the Thunder is that he didn't want to play in Durant's shadow. Because if the Thunder didn't pursue him, that would be absolutley foolish.

You have to think he could have gotten more money elsewhere. Guess it's where he wanted to go though.

Lebrons shadow is a lot bigger than Durants.

Obviously, his point was in reference to the draft they were both selected in.

Exactly. If he goes to Miami and wins a couple titles as a starting center, maybe he can shake off some of the comparisons to Durant.

If he comes to OKC and wins a couple of titles averaging like 8 and 5, compared to Durants 30 and 9, it just lines the two up side by side and gives him all sorts of media attention he probably doesn't want.

If Oden's knees can hold up there is no way he is averaging 8 and 5. He's either going to be a double double machine or out of the league. Feast or famine.

I never heard OKC in the conversation for him. It was either a leading role with the Pelicans/Kings/Mavs or a supporting role with the Heat/Spurs.

Like Ray Allen and everybody else offered the chance to join the Heat, he made the correct decision.

He's going to average 8 and 5 because he's going to be playing very limited minutes, on account of the fact that a stiff breeze is libel to knock him out for a month. They have no need to play him heavy minutes, and they won't.

Gotcha. Provably accurate for this season. If he makes it through '13-'14 healthy I expect him to take on a full role the next season. He passed his physical whatever that means. I wonder if his knees were part of that physical or if the Heat could ignore any issues with his knees?

If Oden has a good, healthy year next season he'll probably opt out of his deal and sign a more lucrative deal elsewhere.

I don't think it's about the money. I'm sure he has plenty from his rookie deal. He most likely went to what he felt was the best situation for him and the best place to win.

Yep. He can play limited minutes this year on a great team for cheap, get a ring, and if he stays healthy opt out after the first year and sign a big contract elsewhere.
