It looked like Hornbeak got some confidence tonight. Hope he builds on it.

Stat, do you have any more positives? If not, I might just drink myself into a coma. I didn't see this one coming tonight. I can't figure this team out.

We are still young.
The only upperclassman starter was the only guy who played like he wanted to be there out of the gates.
It happens.

Cam played well, and Booker hit a couple threes, much like Jelon I think both of those players may have received a boost in confidence. The team fought hard and came back. Got beat by 14 at the charity stripe which is a rarity for this team. I don't know, that's the best I can do.

Thanks buddy....those thoughts and the beer are helping...a little ;)

If I told you about a team that starts 1 senior, 3 sophomores and 1 freshman had played possibly their best game of the year on Saturday and then laid an egg on Wednesday against the team in last place in the conference, would you be surprised? The natural reaction of a young team that played really well one game prior to playing the cellar dweller is to think, "We've got this covered." It's human nature. It's maddening, but not unexpected.

I woke up with a very bad taste in my mouth; very disappointed. It has been helpful to read the "positive" posts on this and other threads. It is always helpful to obtain a good dose of logic and reason.

Tech came out and played an inspired game with excellent effort and intensity. Give credit to their student-athletes and coaches.

Our guys did NOT come out with their game face on. They did not come close to matching the effort and intensity of the Tech players.

I hope we can look back on this game in a few weeks and THANK Texas Tech for teaching our guys a lesson. I guess we shall see if our guys have learned that lesson.

Someone on the OU team needs to develop into a team leader. Right now, there is no leader like past teams have had (e.g., Eduardo, Hollis, Bookout). I am not sure which player has the traits to do this ... maybe Spangler? Maybe Woodard? Hopefully it will be somebody.

Unless and until we play decent defense such losses will continue. Our two worst losses were by 11 and 8 points. If (IF) we could and would play defense we would be undefeated.

Hornbeak did play well. Probably the best he has looked since some point last season.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is that this might have been a delayed "let down" from the WVU travel problems. Sometimes it takes a week for stuff like that to hit 20 year old kids. The entire team, for the most part, just looked out of it in the first half. It happens. Don't like it. Wish it had been a road game. But we can't do anything but move on. I figured we'd lose @KU and another of our last few games. Hopefully this was the "other" game, but it wouldn't shock me to see us lose two more to finish up. And if we don't play better, it could be more than that.

Defense wasn't great, but it wasn't the biggest reason we lost. Poor shooting/offense, and a bunch of turnovers that gave TT easy buckets were the main two reasons. That and effort, in general, especially the first 25 minutes or so of the game.

Of course, you are right. It isn't just the young men that it can happen to. As a poker player, the worse beatings I ever took came right after I had decided that I was the best and couldn't lose.

Young teams, even good young teams, will deliver uneven results. Add undersized and the results become even more uneven.
