Well they choked tonight. Thought Oklahoma might get one team in the Dance, but the best chance couldn't get it done. I suppose they're gonna be in the hunt for an at-large, so who knows.

At large isn't happening. Brutal loss. Scotty has sure had his share of bad losses in the conf tourney over the years.

Yea I was just trying to hold on to any hope at all. Just can't believe they'd waste such a good season like that.

(The state of) Oklahoma basketball everybody!

Next year, however, the drought will end as I think we'll be going dancing.

OSU also has a good chance to make the NCAA Tournament. Nash, Smart and Olukemi is a lot of talent. One of them will likely come off the bench. They will miss Page but might be better without him. For whatever reason they were not all that good with him.

I don't think this year, with its rash of defections and injuries, is a fair judge of how good we could have been "with" Page. He had virtually no supporting cast for the better part of the season.

I don't think they'll be good enough next year. And part of that is that I don't put much stock in Ford as a game day coach. He reminds me too much of Capel. If the talent is there, he'll win, but he isn't going to coach up lesser talent and beat a bunch of teams.

Yes, I agree with this. Big XII is going to be wide open next year. My bet is that OU and OSU will go dancing again and bring back Bedlam to where it's supposed to be. I know we're going to finish with about a .500 record this year, but we lose no major contributors besides CJ, so I don't see any way we won't be better next year, and we were on the bubble this year up until about a month ago. Add in M'Baye, Hield, Hornbeak, Cole, and Henry (?) and I really see us going dancing next year.

I got to watch the second half yesterday since they're broadcasting the Summit League tourney locally here in Tulsa. I also got to the see the closing minutes of the first round game with ORU.

They completely fall apart in the second half, like our own team, yes. They had like a 9 point lead and then let Western Illinois (whoever the hell they are, but apparently they usually aren't even good enough to get invited to Summit's conference tourney) back into the game... and while West Illy kept missing the game-tying threes with a few minutes left, ORU could NOT hit a shot to save their life (or their postseason dreams).

Soooo... does the NIT still have that rule where if a regular season champ doesn't win the conference tourney they get an auto bid to the NIT?

Yes, that rule is still in place according to this NIT Bracketology website: http://www.bankrollsports.com/blog/nit-bracketology/

"Before we begin, here’s how the NIT works. There are 32 teams that make it into the field, and before there are any other teams that are put into place, any team that won its conference regular season crown but didn’t make it into the NCAA Tournament gets an automatic spot."

Also, here's what it had to say about us..

Big 12

Likely NIT Bound Right Now: Texas Longhorns

NIT Bubble: Oklahoma Sooners

Even calling Oklahoma a bubble team for the NIT isn’t all that great of a statement, knowing that the Sooners really don’t have a great resume. That being said, nothing has changed here in this conference, as Texas still doesn’t have a signature win to fall back on, and in the end, that means that it is probably going to be here in the NIT unless that changes in the Big XII tourney next week.

ORU losing hurts what little chance OU had of making the NIT. Would have been nice to see one Oklahoma team in the dance. maybe next year!
