OSU gets a solid win

On the flip side, OSU's record could be even worse. They were really really lucky to win at home against Iowa State and Texas Tech. Let's face it, 6-9 is about right for this team. They are just not a very good.

I know what you're saying, but I tend to think that winning, especially winning on the road, creates confidence and consistency.

Winning some of those other early toss-up type games likely would have made those other games not as close. The Colorado game, in particular, was a killer.

It was OSU's first conference road game after the early big win over K-State.

They led most of the first half and had a 7-point lead in the second half before giving up the lead and losing. Had they managed to hold on and just win that single game, I think we'd be in the Tournament this year... even with all of the other crap that has gone on.

Agreed. They didn't have a notable non-conference showing, and had some humiliating losses throughout the conference season.

They're going to have to win the Big 12 tournament to get in the dance.

OSU's first conference road game after playing K-State was when they lost 71-48 vs. A&M.

I think that bad loss was more of the confidence killer playing Colorado right after than anything else.

Agreed. They also got by a soft non-conference schedule, and had some humiliating losses throughout the conference season.

They have wins against Murray State, Tulsa, Alabama, Missouri State, LaSalle (on the road), and Stanford. That's not awesome, but they are some pretty decent wins.

In fact, if OSU beats OU and MAKES it to the Big XII Championship game, I think they're in, no matter what, as a one of the play-in 12 seeds.

Missouri St: RPI 42
Tulsa: RPI: 92
Alabama: RPI: 88
LaSalle: RPI: 179
Stanford: RPI: 139

You quoted me before I edited my statement regarding their non-conference ;). I didn't mean to say it was "weak" per se (why I edited it), but I definitely think it wouldn't do them any favors when the selection committee looks at the resume.

And I agree with you that Missouri State, Murray State, and Alabama are decent wins (although I think its not a coincidence that Bama turned their season around as soon as they started playing their SEC games).

But I don't consider wins against a 16-12 Tulsa team, a 15-14 Stanford team, and a 13-16 La Salle team worth mentioning in the conversation. I think its even a reach calling Stanford and La Salle "decent" wins (especially La Salle).

And I guess we won't know for sure until it happens just how close Ok. State would be to getting into the tournament (should they advance to the finals of the Big 12 tournament). And it depends on a lot of other variables. But I think its probably a lot more of a toss-up than you believe.

OSU isn't going dancing unless it's at a club. No way, no how.

As an OSU fan I'm not getting to excited after last nights game. Baylor was poorly coached, played with no bball iq and with no heart last night. OSU did play a decent game but nothing to make me think they could win 3 in the big 12 tournament. I'm not even confident about the bedlam game Saturday.
That said if they do win out till the big 12 finals I think they are in.

Baylor is horrific this year, with as much talent as they have.

Right. I'm not in any way predicting all of this to happen. In fact, I'd probably pick OU to win Saturday if I had to put any substantial amount of money on it. But, IF they win 4 straight starting Saturday, I think they're in.

I don't think they'll do that, though.
