OT Boomerrrrrrrrrr

When I was in school at OU in the early 60's and virtually no games were on TV we frequently went to Stoolwater to watch a game and cheer for OSU. Likewise had several OSU friends from my generation that to this day are big OU fans except at Bedlam and were frequently in Norman to cheer for the Sooners. We all had state pride and rooted for the Oklahoma schools.

Unfortunately for the last 35-40 years most OSU fans have a metamorphosis occur where Sooner Syndrome (a Sooner loss is more important than a poke victory) overwhelms them and suddenly are transformed into PUKES.

What transpired Saturday after the game again confirmed that pukes will always be pukes and when the going get tough they will aggie up and choke.

Think of it like this. .. if we play Alabama, we have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Nobody will expect OU to have a chance. Alabama doesn't want to be there. Just think of the possible recruiting boosts that a victory would have. ..

I understand that reasoning and the perception of the possible mindset for Bama, but it's a terrible matchup at the LOS. However, I can see risk/reward of the gamble of getting pummeled or getting back to elite status. Personally, I would prefer to play Clemson in the OB.....and have a crack at Venables' defense.

But I do get the "we got nothing to lose" attitude.

No question a bowl game against Clemson affords the Sooners and Sooner fans more opportunity for success. Should we play the Tide our chances for success are virtually nil because of the talent disparity not only on the OL and DL but also every other position on the field. OU probably doe not have a player that could start for the Tide.

Too often it is the fan that wants the Sooners to take on all comers and expects only victories. When we lose they are down on the coaches and the players looking for a scapegoat. They contribute to program turmoil.

Another probable loss in a bowl game against Alabama is not what the Sooners need for recruiting, the off season mental attitude/confidence, etc. A victory over a team (Clemson) in the top ten of the final BCS poll brings positives in all areas to a team that is short on talent, experience and confidence.

Unfortunately the thought of the Suger Bowl comittee will be a game between two of the top 5 programs of all time and both within close driving distance to New Orleans is too good of deal to pass on and Castiglione/Boren will want the money that goes with the invitation. Deal closed.

Alabama in a 2014 bowl makes much more sense.

My thoughts exactly. Well spoken Spock.

This great win is completely due to coaching & the heart of our program. Bob Stoops gets total credit from me. On the road, key injuries, inexperienced/inconsistent QB play, playing a veteran team with 27 seniors, 10 point underdog, couldn't move the ball ... win the game anyway.

Bob Stoops coached his ass off & his players competed until the final gun. His character is beyond reproach. What more could you want in a head coach?

Bring on Bama. We'll fight em for 60 minutes.

We're Oklahoma. I want us to play the best teams. I'd rather try and lose against Alabama than beat a team I think we're better than. Let's give these young players a look at what they are gunning for and see how much they've got.

That is pretty much how I feel.

The only thing that remotely thinks otherwise are the OU fans that blast OU and Bob for losing any game, even a BCS game against an obviously superior Bama team, and Bob's "history" of losing BCS games. It doesn't mean much to me, but the media sure plays on it.

I'll take on any sucker.........

No excuses. Bring on Bama!!!!!!!!

Man the aggies that frequent this board sure have been absent lately. Been kinda nice

This Alabama team is nowhere near the Alabama teams of the past. I think Yeldon is the worst feature back they've had since their return to prominence. This is their worst offensive line and worst secondary they've had over that time period as well.

Don't get me wrong, they're still very good and I expect them to win, possibly handily, but at least this isn't the Bama teams of the last few years. Those games would have been an absolute bloodbath.

Yeldon is a very hot and cold player, but when he's on and rips off a long run for a score it makes up for a lot of his sub standard runs.

I bet the manleader with his leg stuck out is GiaStout

I agree with everyone on the unreal lack of class... But...

I gotta say it takes some real sack as a cheerleader, to try and trip a football player. Is that dude a complete moron? I don't think Striker or Ndulay saw it, because if they did, I'd suspect they'd have wanted to throw. You have:
--a bunch of 110 pound pom pom toting bunnies backing you up, they have..
--a bunch of what includes a few 300+ pound adrenaline fueled beasts backing them up(as if they'd even need)? Hmmm

I think dude pretty much lucked out.

OU plays better when they are the underdog. Had we been matchup up with another mid-major then it would be another lose-lose situation. It will be a tough challenge against Bama, but a win would completely turn around the program and a loss wouldn't be devastating.

I wonder who will start at QB?

I don't expect OU to win but I think we can make it a game.
Bama would prob be favored over anyone they play

Knight should start. OU coaches thought he would. He's probable for the game. (Kotv) bama opened as a 14.5 favorite and it's up to 17 already.
Bama would be favored against auburn or fsu...

Bama is still the best team in the country, IMO.

I'm really interested to see how we do.

This is simply not true.

Yes, Alabama across the board has more talent, but OU has players that could start for them.

These people are also idiots and their "opinion" of the program should be treated as such.

FSU is the best team. The SEC was really down this season & Bama played a very soft schedule.

They obviously have superior QB play so that gives them an edge.
