I would have liked to have seen WVU lose last night. You never know how they are going to play. They won in a place we and KU couldn't win. And only had a two point win at home against WVU

In various articles, tweets, etc I have read, according to Kenpom, statistically we are favored to win the Big XII by two games. We are also favorites in every game left except for the WVU game (not sure if Kenpom or BPI).

There is such a bunch at the top of the league, one trip up could cost a team the title.

Our schedule should favor us the rest of the way, but a team like Texas is ever becoming more of a threat the longer the season goes on

Agree. They worry me right now. We might have to beat them in Morgantown to win the conference outright. They'll lose at KU, but they could win every other game on their schedule.

ISU is our kryptonite in all ways.

I'm glad to see the Cyclones get another crack at them. I know it'll be on the road, but hopefully they'll be looking for some payback.

They play Baylor twice still, but I don't think Baylor can handle their press.

Didn't Texas beat them in Morgantown? They still have to play them in Austin (as do we).

Personally, I have faith in this squad to take care of their own destiny. Plus if we aren't good enough to win it with our play, not someone else's losses, then we don't deserve it.

I've seen this posted a couple of times, and it's pretty stupid IMO.

Kansas has won it 11 straight years off of others losses.

If we sweep K-State last year like we were supposed to, we win the conference outright.

So did Kansas "not deserve" last years Big 12 championship because we couldn't beat K-State?

Because that's essentially what you just said.

Every season, the champ needs to win, and needs other teams to lose. It's just a fact.

Saying otherwise is ridiculous.

Last night surprised me, but I still think WVU will fall off. Their remaining schedule is easily the most difficult of the contenders, and they seem like such an up and down team.

On the bright side, I think ISU is all but eliminated from this race. They've now lost two at home which is near fatal in this race, and their lack of depth appears to be a very serious issue.

And we lost last year because of our six losses. We win two more games and we finish ahead of Kansas. You can argue it either way. So yeah, we can cheer for other teams to lose or we can just win. I'm pretty sure of those 11 conference championships, Kansas won several going away and didn't have to worry about anyone else losing.

WVU can lose at any time ... they don't shoot very well ..and if the refs call a game close they can lose

Just did the research...

Out of the past 11 Big 12 championships:

5 of them were one game cushions (like 14-4 and 13-5)

And 4 more of them were shared titles with another team.

So 9 of the 11 titles were 1 game away (in either direction) from KU not winning it

Not exactly. The only one they truly won "going away" was 2010 when they only lost once and finished 4 games ahead of A&M, KSU and Baylor. Eight others were either shared or won by only a game.

WV is an interesting team. My first inclination was that their win in Ames was not good for us but I am not really sure if that will turn out to be true or not. WV has a lot of tough games left.

Regardless, OU just needs to keep winning. KSU cost us the conference title last year. We need to sweep them this year.

OU needs to sweep everyone this year except for the games they have already lost.

I pretty much agree with gwydion (of course I'm pretty stupid too). But to me it's a waste of time to sit around wringing my hands and hoping every other team in the Big 12 loses several more games.

I prefer to have faith and confidence that my team will continue to win. The Sooners are the best team in the conference, and if they bring it every night, they'll continue to be hard to beat. I'm also confident that WVU, Baylor, et al will drop multiple games.

Current standings:
OU 7-2
WV 7-2
Bay 6-3
Tex 6-3
Kan 5-3
ISU 5-4

I bet 15-3 will win the conference outright. 14-4 increases the chances of a shared title. I think WV has at least 2 more losses in their future. My prediction is that OU's current margin of error is 1 loss if we want the title outright.

Wv isn't a consistent team . That's why they got blown out by an average Florida team and then go into Ames and win .

I figure they beat us in Morgantown but the big 12 will still come down to ou/kansas
