Jordan has been clutch at the FT line all year in the clutch. We are so fortunate to have a PG that wants the ball and can make a difference with his FTs. Many teams do not have that luxury.
A careful reading of the box score stats is very revealing:
OU shot 61.5% to 50% by Dayton from BTA in the first half, but due to a drought, only led by 2 at halftime.
Lon obviously told his team to work the ball inside and take advantage of our inside game the second half. While we were only 1-5 BTA in the second half, the emphasis on the inside game was paying off:
1st half, we shot 2-2 at the free throw line, but the second half, we were 17-22 at the line, at the same time, wearing Dayton down physically, and taking advantage of their short bench. That, combined with our 10-4 advantage on the offensive boards, gave us chances at putback points... unfortunately, we missed way too many bunnies. We will need to do better against the Spartans.
