Re: OU-Northwestern State Box Score

Thomas has played three games and has a total of one offensive board. All starters during today's game, including both teams, had an offensive rebound besides Tayshawn.

The bench did an excellent job of rebounding

Yes, they did. As a group, our subs had 16 boards, 9 of them from Lattin.

I think Walker deserves special attention as well. Thirteen points on 5 0f 8 from the field (3-3 from three) and a rebound in only 11 minutes is a very nice game.

I couldn't watch the game, and I like Walker. Think he has a nice, smooth looking J, but 2 assists in 3 games as a backup PG? Does he not look to feed?

He appears to be more of a scoring pg in the short time I've seen him. Nothing wrong with that from the bench, I suppose.

Yep. And I think he will be more effective when we iron out our substitution patterns. Hield and/or Cousins can distribute it well when Walker is on the floor.
Walker appears to be a very solid ball handler who can get to the rim, and has a nice jumper. Doesn't appear to be a distributor though.

Re: OU-Northwestern State Box Score

Didn't get to watch today but checked out the box score. Looked like Jordan had a decent game but I thought 6 was a bit hi in the TO category. Were they bad TO's ? Just sloppy?

Like to see him clean it up some. I think we really need him to be good for us to make a jump.

Yep, he got very sloppy at times.

He scored some but he was an awful PG for the most part today. Needs to play much better at the point.

I just realized this but Walker reminds me of Dion Barnes. If you remember him from Sampson's first 2 teams, he was more of a scoring combo guard off the bench. Not a great distributor but extremely effective as a 2nd unit guard. Walker is bit more physical and looked really good today.

One supersub off the bench, with the right role players around him (Lattin for frontcourt play, Booker for shooting, etc) might provide a nice change-of-pace look in conference. Dinjyl may just be trying to adjust to the speed of D1 play and thus leaning on his strength - scoring with the ball in his hands - until he feels confident he can pull off other parts of his all-around game.

Either way, he looks and feels like an improvement over Hornbeak in a similar role. We'll see what he does later in the season.
