Notable teams and players expected to attend
Edmond Memorial (James and Jordan Woodard)
Edmond Santa Fe (Shaq Morris)
Midwest City (Omega Harris, top 2014 kid in the state)

I've heard that Wichita Falls Hirschi, Ardmore (no Nino) and Del City should also be there.

Will be a great chance to get a look at OKC area talent.

One note from day 1, I didn't go but I've been hearing that 6 foot 8 2014 Jacob Hammond of Duncan was impressive.

Hammond has only been playing basketball for about 2 years now but has made big strides in those years. I saw him for the first time in Early April and by Mid May he already progressed quite a bit. Hammond has the highest ceiling of 2014 in Oklahoma.

Watched a few games today.

Jordan Woodard did work on Wichita Falls Hirschi. He got whatever he wanted when he wanted. He also did this with Kruger watching.

Marcus Foster (Wichita Falls Hirschi) continues to be very interesting, 6 foot 2 shooting guard has hops and potential. Relies on his jumper too much right now but is similar to Nino was last year (Foster is 2013).

2014 Omega Harris had a good performance today, his recruitment should start taking off soon as he receives a bigger role as a sophomore for MWC.

Watched Shaq Morris dominate the MWC small front line. Morris isn't likely to get much challenge this year in Oklahoma, he's just too strong. If he commits himself the rest of the summer and fall to getting in better shape it really will be scary. Little tidbit on him, Shaq's favorite player is Blake Griffin.

Didn't see it personally, but Dre Wright (6'8 Lawton 2012) was impressive based on people I talked too.

Will be more games tomorrow, should be fun.

To add to what Sam posted on Dre Wright, OU coaches really liked what they saw from him. They spent a marority of the time watching him and in some cases had two staffers looking at his game. Wright will be a legitimate target for the Sooners in 2012 or maybe 2013.

Why maybe 2013? Is he not going to qualify?

How do they do this? Prep school?

It depends which direction they reclassify. If they are reclassifying to an earlier year, then they just have to graduate early. To reclassify to a later year, they do usually use a prep school. I am sure that more knowledgeable people here can give you other methods of reclassification.

Oklahoma kids usually dont do it buts is fairly common back east. A lot of kids go prep school when it is not needed to redshirt a year in high school. I think some of the logic behind it for Wright is because he missed almost all his junior year with an injury. So he is further behind in his development now.

It will be interesting to watch, right now all his offers are mid majors (SMU, Tulsa & TCU), if he goes prep and puts on some muscle he would likely be high major as a 2013 recruit.

Wright is an excellent student and high character kid. He's already qualified.

OU does have a unique situation where they only have 2 scholarships in 2012 and getting a wing is more of a priority than getting a post player due to the post players OU has on campus. OU's other issue is they are in the running for guys in Texas who are a little bit bigger and more ready to contribute than Wright. But make no mistake about it, OU loves Wright and wants him to be a Sooner.

I'm confused. I count 3 ships for 2012. And I count Zero post players on campus.

Amath, Arent, Osby, and Fitzgerald.

Arent isn't on campus. He needs summer school at his JC to qualify. I'm sure he will. But, he hasn't done it yet. Amath is a wing and a mobile shooter and I bet that we will hear all year that he now is the best player on campus. Osby is a natural 3. And Fitz, wouldn't you agree that he and the team would both be well served if he were to slide over to the 4? With all due respect Mr. Jennings, We need post players in 2012.

I doubt Kruger ever hypes a player who is sitting out, like Capel did regarding Osby. Capel knew his job was on the line and he had to say something positive about the future to convince Joe C he deserved another year.

I have to agree with that. But, it wasn't just Capel hyping Osby. It was the other players, recruits that played in pickup games, and most anyone else that had access to practice. And there was probably alot of truth to it. It is likely that Osby is better than any of that bunch that was on the floor last year. Just as it will be true that Amath is probably better than any of next season's crew.

*sigh*

Both will play WAY more minutes in the post (4/5), then on the wing. I'd bet on it.

Don't bet more than you can afford to lose. I don't know about Osby. His role, along with Fitz, will probably be determined by what level of competence Arent brings to the post position. Amathe is not a back to the basket player. He is an athletic scorer that can play inside out. He is not the second coming of Kevin Durant. But, he is a player with a simular body and style. And I'll bet on that.

I hear this every year about somebody. And nearly every year, said player ends up being a 4/5. You can't have a bunch of bigs out on the wing chasing guards through screens. I don't care how athletic Osby or M'Baye are, they have no business playing on the wing, especially defensively. Teams are going small, not big. And in the college game, it is nearly impossible to take advantage of having a big 3, going against a smaller one. It just doesn't happen in college. Most teams, or a lot of teams, play a smaller 4 (PF) then the college game saw 10 years ago. And in a way, the 5's (C) have gotten smaller too.

Just b/c a guy can't score with his back to the basket, doesn't make him a 3. Ace McGee is a perfect example of that. Selvy. The list could go on and on.

Sorry calling you out on this, it's just a giant pet peeve of mine.
