**********OU-Texas Game Thread**********

Agreed. I think OU made a mistake by pulling the ball out when we broke the press and running clock. Gotta make teams pay when you break the press!

I didn't get to see the first half and most of the 2nd half, but what I did see, Texas was pressuring us in the half court and we were having to run our offense well beyond the 3 point line. Just another reason to try and steal some easy baskets if we have the opprotunity.

You are out of your mind. Maybe if we had 11, and ended up in 6th place, but I don't think that can happen. We beat TCU and WVU, finish in 5th place or better, we're Dancing. Won't matter what we do if we play ISU again in KC.[/QUOTEt

We will see. What does Ken Poms stats say about pledgers foul?

I don't get the Ken Pom jokes with you lately. Not smart enough to understand advanced stats? Want me to dumb-it-down for you going forward? I'm trying to answer your cry for help, but I'm not sure how. Help me to help you.

^ this is also what I was thinking. Several times we'd have a two on one under our basket and they'd bring it out. Granted, they were trying to run clock but I think elmer fudd learned something - even this late in his career about prevent.

I am not typically a glass half full type, but it is nice to be upset with a loss again. I can remember some road games last 2 years that I would just stop watching.

total collapse. Expect to lose to Iowa State next game, then in Big 12 tourney and then on to the NIT. This game would have just about wrapped up a ticket to the Dance. The ending in regulation was horrible. Why was Pledger even close to the 3 pt shooter when the Texas player was just throwing the ball up there?

My bad, it was a low blow, you always like to throw Ken Pom stats when you argue. I can tell you know your hoops. With krugers experience do you find it strange that amath stands under the basket when trying to inbound against the press? I'm worried he's going to hit the backboard while trying to inbound. I don't know what your trying to dumb down, potentially losing to isu 3 times after blowing a 22 point lead scares me for the tourney. I don't want to be on the bubble and 12 means we wouldn't be, 11 I think we are.

Billy Tubbs would lick his chops when a team pressed him. He would run a layup drill on the other end. Billy really knew the press and run and gun offense.
I think Coach Kruger will get this team where they handle pressure better. This game will hurt him and his players a lot more than anyone. And, it dang near killed me.

But Billy had the athletes, and wanted to play that way. This OU team does not. We don't have a bunch of good ball handlers. Grooms is pretty good. Hield is probably okay. M'Baye is okay at times. But really, everybody else is pretty loose with the handles. That is just how our team is right now. That is one of the weaknesses of the roster. They are trying. It isn't an effort issue. I've seen changes to what we're trying to do, so it isn't a lack of coaching. Sometimes certain players are just always going to struggle with certain things. I think that is what you are seeing with this OU team and the press.

Well said, right now Cousins and Hornbeak are not at the level Grooms is with the ball in his hands and like you said Grooms is good but even he cannot break a press by himself each time, deny Grooms enough and you saw what can happen quickly tonight.

I agree. I think it would have broken their momentum if we'd put the damn ball in the hole more and quicker on the press.
