OU vs MSU

Alright. Cocks beat the Trojans by 40. How are we feeling for the next round?!
 
Notice how kc sooner disappears in the game thread when OU starts winning the game?? lol. So many trolls here.
 
Besides Chavez going wild in overtime, what were the key elements in the OU win over SC?
 
SC will be on a war path. Beers has to stay out of foul trouble. Hopefully Chavez will be on from 3 and we could do it!
 
Agree -- I think Beers staying out of foul trouble enough to play 3/4 the game and Chavez are the keys.

As for the last game with SC, we played better defense than we normally do. I thought the kids played with crazy effort on defense in that game.

As an aside, I thought Beers dad was going to come out of the stands and beat up a ref a few times in the MSU game. Pretty funny stuff.

lol nope… I posted by myself for about 4 min and no one responded… where were you in the first half?
Watched the whole game… glad they pulled it out.

If Coach can get this team or any team to the final four I’ll eat crow about the way she coaches.

As I’ve said many times… those top 3-5 teams… they can beat another top 20 team by 40… the discrepancy is enormous…. We won in Norman the first game. If I remember correctly we were hot early and sc wasn’t the normal sc. Hung on to win in OT with Chavez going off.

That happens… the reality is sc wins 8/10 games against us… if I’m betting. They are on a mission…they win their first game by 70, 2nd by 40.

Hopefully we’ll play as well as we did the first time.
 
You’re right. The top 4/5 teams are vastly better than the rest. I would’ve be surprised by a 40 point loss. Hopefully we are more competitive. We can win, but we must play clean basketball with few turnovers and fouls.
 
Another difference was defense the first round. They played Lofton 20 minutes on their best ball handler. I don’t see them doing that this game, so defense will have to be a priority by whoever is out there. With the same intensity she gives. This is a great matchup and our girls can beat them again, if they take care of every possession. We have ladies who want to win and that is the biggest factor.

I was a little surprised she and smith.. sat for like the last 5-6 min against msu… at least that’s what I remember. I know smith is an off liability… but figured they’d do the off/def sub

Every one wants to win… no denying that. If have 24 TO’s we won’t. That’s my biggest gripe. It’s something that has been going on for 4 years… and the just completely bone headed ones. Going to have TO’s… but man some are just head as scratchers.

It will be impossible for Beers to stay out of foul trouble. Opponents have found out that they can grab, hold on to, push, pull, and whatever they want to do and they are going to get Raegan into foul trouble. And the atrocious officiating doesn’t help. Collegiate officiating in every sport is horrendous.

She's already proved that she's a good coach. No need to eat crow. Perhaps a magpie? ;)

I think they just sent with the veterans, because they were playing well the second half and it was so close.

Didn’t say she wasn’t a “good coach”… there’s a diff between her and the top ones. Thats fine… just don’t expect much more than sweet 16… maybe an elite 8 if the cards fall right.

Would the football folks be ok with 9-3..10-2… maybe an 11-1… every 5-10 yrs? Maybe a playoff app in that time…?.. I doubt it.

AGAIN, is totally fine to have lower expectations but just be realistic. Just my 2 cents.
