Hope I am wrong but I think their huge size advantage will be too much for us. A lot depends on whether PaoPao, thier point guard plays. Their offense has been somewhat stale without her and their outside shooting is so so. Oregon is also pretty soft on defense so we should score some.

OU ahead at the end of Q1 23-17. 4 3s and 5-6 from the free throw line. 8 turnovers for the Ducks.

Yes, played well, need to stop our bigs from piling up the fouls. Keep shooting well ladies.

Oregon made a run and it is OU up 80-78 with 4 minutes left

Oregon wins 98-93. We just couldn’t stop them inside in Q4 and some untimely turnovers during the initial Oregon run.

29 points for Taylor on 7-10 from 3 and she had 8 assists.

Yep, minus a bad stretch in the 4th we would have won. Very good effort today....

Sad, our post players are so bad, gave up 50 points in he paint in the SECOND HALF. Should call them no post players.

I didn't get to see it, did we play some zone to protect them or just man?

What post players do you know who can give up 5 or 6 inches and be successful? Oregon has post players who are 6'7" and 6'8". They will be a challenge for anyone who isn't the same height.

Wish I could have seen it on TV. Sounds like a good game. And congrats to Taylor for 29 points....AWESOME!!! Good luck on your next game....:woot

I am really suprised that we had a shot to win. I do think Oregon is overrated but this game shows me that we can compete at a high level. Good prospects for the Baranczyk era.

I pay to get ESPN+ because it gives me access to a ton of games. But I don't pay just to see one game or one tournament. So I will settle for the highlights which I have already viewed.

We still have a way to go. The development of Washington is critical to our season. That and the further development of Scott and Svboda. Sherrie lost a lot of potential development of Scott for no obvious reason other than her eternal commitment to Simpson. Washington is still trying to do too much and I had hoped that she would be further along but potentially she is superior to Tot both offensively and defensively.

I had begun to wonder if the Baranczyk offense would reduce the effectiveness of Taylor but it appears after tonight that she may thrive in the long run. She hit some home run type shots in this game.

I also like what Van brings to the game.

If I remember correctly, Scott was coming off of ACL surgery her freshman year and wasn't available until later in the year. She was coming along nicely last year until she had a season-ending shoulder injury. Even with only 6 or 7 players available, Simpson didn't start most of the year last year.

Adult post (except for the uninformed comment about Sherri's handling of Scott). I like what I'm seeing from this team; hope the young players will continue to develop.

I normally don't get into a back and forth but:

In the last 11 games in 2019-20 and the first two games of 20-21 Simpson played 351 minutes to 136 for Scott. Mandy seemed to fall out of favor after than but Scott only played a few games before being injured.

I know Scott was only a freshman in 19-20 but Simpson was never up to being a starter at the power 5 level and Scott was clearly more athletic and had more upside. Simpson was a disaster on defense. Not only because taller players scored over her with ease but she was very poor with helping against the opponents who were constantly beating out out front players and getting to the hoop. Mandy was a great teammate and seemed to work very hard to live up to Sherri's expectations but should never have been a starter at OU.

I am not saying that Scott will ever be a great player but I think we will see her and Svboda getting most of the inside minutes the rest of the season. I also believe that Svboda will ultimately play more than Scott. But good coaches recognize the players with upside and do everything to get them into the lineup.

I shy away from back-and-forth too, and I most generally agree with your observations. However, the constant re-litigation of Sherri's coaching styles/decisions wears on me. Coale did some great things at Oklahoma, but we all recognize that her last few seasons were difficult. We have a new coach and a new team now. Time to put the Coale tenure in the rearview mirror.
