OU vs Samford

Carter is out of control a lot. At least two of those turnovers and a couple of Kornet's were trying to get the ball to Kay Kay who wasn't exactly cooperating.

That was an interesting post-game conference with Sherri, Derica, and Morgan.

Sherri made some comments about Gioya. She told Gioya, when Gioya fouled out, that she would rather Gioya have nine turnovers trying to make things happen than to stand outside and pass the ball around. She said Gioya is so fast and quick that she can't even keep up with herself. But, she will work it out in time. She needs to learn how to control her talent. So, it is that she is very high on Gioya.

It was interesting to watch Morgan. She has to be a coach. She acts like a coach. The game is over, but she is still intent and focused.

Derica was replacing Vegas. Said she isn't Vegas, but she can do some things.

Right now, she may be a better three-point shooter than Vegas. We need to see how she performs in big games from behind the arc. Nobody has thus far.

Vegas is day-to-day with the concussion. If she isn't ready for Tech, we will be.

I was at the game, and I had the impression that Sharane may have been ill. She certainly didn't look 100%, and we played her in relatively short spurts.

I wouldn't be surprised if the women came down with the same virus that made it's way through the men's team and coaches over the past couple of weeks.

Carter fouled out with 1:46 left in the game. We had a 64-32 lead. Why not put Gibbs in?

Tech should be a winnable game. Hopefully the team learned from UCLA and Marist and can put together a good outing away from Norman. With only 3 home games in January, we could end up in a deep hole.

Sherri was in full teaching mode today, especially with Gioya. Gioya is a freshman but she may be the most overall talented on this years team. There were passes and moves Gioya made today that I don't think anyone else can make. Sherri and staff see Gioya everyday in practice and I believe she thinks it will payoff later in the year and future years to get Gioya more time on the court and make her more comfortable. I see Gioya as being a very special player on this team and a difference maker.

Saw Bo Overton at the game today. His recruiting and bench coaching are sorely missed.

"Full teaching mode" is not difficult when you're 25-30 points up on a mediocre Div I team. Let's hope that they had a mindset to understand that they will have to be twice as initiative and pro-active when it comes to conference play compared to the Samford game.

Last year, there were some posters on the men's board who were very frustrated with Kruger for giving so much playing time in the pre-season to Hornbeak, Hield and Cousins. They thought the more veteran players should get more minutes and the freshmen should get less. The posters were wrong and Kruger was right. We don't see practices. We don't know the true potential of these players. The best way to bring that potential to the surface is to give them quality minutes in games, not just in mop up duty.

I've heard Sherri say that we are a better team with Carter on the floor. I'll admit to two things. Sherri knows more about it than I do. And sometimes I don't see what she is talking about.

Carter is someone who can create - particularly without Vegas, that's in short supply right now.

Agree wholeheartedly, tycat; and I also agree with MSProud's comments. I have a hard time understanding those who refuse to see Gioya's talent and potential. Sure, she's a freshman and therefore makes some freshman mistakes. But Carter IS a stud (metaphorically) and absolutely the most talented player on our team. Sherri knows what she's doing by playing this kid so much. I predict Carter will make some of our posters feel pretty sheepish before the season is over. JMHO.

:clap:clap:clap

Carter had 8 points yesterday. Under normal circumstances I would say that's a pretty decent game. Unfortunately, she had 9 turnovers. More turnovers than points is never a thing.

Does she have potential? Perhaps but it's too early to tell. We have seen too many fouls, inconsistent defense, and less than stellar shooting. I do not see how anyone thinks she should start over Kornet or Sharane.

I Agree - or even Derica for that matter...

I couldn't believe the post-game presser. I've never heard a coach trying to defend a player like Sherri is defending Gioya.

Yes, I should have included Wyatt as well.
