Did we forget there was a game tonight? We won by 10. I'm trying to figure out who'll be player of the week: Aaryn (who scored 26 in both) or Joanna (who averaged 19 and 13.5 rebounds). Perhaps they should both get it. I'm so proud of this team. I'm recovering from a surgery yesterday, but I forced myself to stay awake to watch the game. It was well worth it. BOOMER!

Good win. Tech is a solid team. I'm very impressed with how the ladies have stepped up under the most difficult of circumstances.

Congrats.

I couldn't see it but I listened to it.
Sounded like both teams fought hard.

(I figured there was no game thread here because y'all were all at the game.)

Good point about the game thread. I live near Minneapolis, so I obviously wasn't at the game.

There certainly were some negatives to this game that just drove me nuts, but one very big positive overwhelmed those negatives. Our toughness, grit and refusing to lose this game. When Jo and Nicole both went out with four fouls, these kids took it up a notch and just played their hearts out. What should have been a twenty point win, was still a win regardless. I am really proud how they are coming together and doing some amazing things against really tough odds.

A lot of people love to talk the talk but won't walk the walk. Joanna is walking the walk. This is her last go around, and she is making the very best of it. She is having fun, and delighting in giving out punishment on the glass. We go as she goes. Morgan has really taken over this team, and Aaryn continues to be the assassin we want her to be. Sharane, Nicole, Jaz, etc.....Just really proud of their play right now.

Totally agree, Roc!

Just got done watching and although not perfect I was pleased. The guys seem to be playing well together and as stated above are playing very hard and don't seem to let things get them down. If you'd have told me what, three weeks or so ago that this is where we'd be I'd have called you crazy. I'm looking forward to seeing the games in both Lawrence and Manhattan.

Good game well played good win. I just do not understand why it is so hard to teach Nicole to use the glass. It is a great friend and she could score at least 8-10 more points a game if she would just learn that.

For those that didn't get to watch on TV, Lyndsey Cloman was interviewed at the beginning of the second half. She gave an excellent review of what was discussed at half-time; mostly that the Sooners were going to push more in transition. Sure enough, we started running and passing ahead and getting easy transition buckets. That (along with 7 straight missed free throws by the Lady Raiders) was what gave OU the second half lead.

At the TCU game, a crowd of crimson-clad students held up a sign identifying themselves as the Sooner Showmen (the basketball band). They made the trip down on their own to root on their Sooners. The team showed their appreciation at the end of the Tech game by going over and high-fiving the band.

As a former member of the pep band (in undergrad not at OU), we always appreciated when the team showed us love. I'm sure the OU band felt the same way about the sooner women showing their appreciation. That's a relationship that can prove fruitful throughout the rest of the season and tournament time. Awesome!

I didn't get to see the game yesterday but, looking at the stats, it is interesting that we had 3 players who played 38 or more minutes (Morgan and Aaryn each played 40 minutes, Sharane played 38 minutes) while Kornet only played 3 minutes.

It's a shame that it took injuries for it to happen, but the leadership and scoring
from the starting five is pretty impressive.

I just wish Kornet would find her shot to give some scoring boost off the bench.
Same for Portia as well.

I'm a bit concerned that playing that many minutes could have a negative impact late in the season.

Those that played 38+ minutes needed to yesterday, as the reserves (except for Jaz) played poorly.

Agreed to all points.
But with no depth.
The starters are going to log this many minutes.

Stat enthusiasts help me out:

How many games in a row (and this season) have we won after being down at halftime?

How many double-doubles in a row (and this season) has Joanna McFarland had now?

Both seem like a lot, but might just be revisionist fan history

Badger, I'm not a stat enthusiast but will try to help you out!

Looks like for the season, we've only won four games after trailing at half. We trailed at the half in both losses but those wouldn't count and there's only the current two game streak of coming back and winning after a halftime deficit.

As for Joanna, pretty much the same thing. She's had four double-doubles this year and her streak of two is active with TCU and Tech. At the first of the season Jo was pretty non-existent and after Whitney was injured Jo picked her game up but the conference season has really seen Jo take over.

I'm with you, I would have thought more of both halftime deficits turned to wins and Joanna double-doubles!

Thanks! I would love three in a row for Joanna, but would prefer that we get a first half lead and expand on it at ISU.
