When I think of how Stoops looked at his program and was not satisfied then started to change it almost completely, I wish the same for OUr program in women's basketball. We've talked endlessly about recruiting, but it seems clear to me that , if our recruiting doesnt result in getting better players, we are doomed to stay at the level we are at now. Good years we would be 2nd but most years third, or fourth in the 'Big XII with little chance at the Final Four. At present, I do not think this is likely to change. No one - nobody - wants more than that than me.

I know it is like comparing apples to oranges, but Coach Kruger is thriving as OU's men's coach by coming in 2nd, 3rd or 4th in the Big-12 Conference. Obviously, his Sweet-16 last season and his possible national championship this season have endeared him to OU fans everywhere.

Also, he has a national star in Buddy Hield, while Sherri has not had a "star" performer in a few years. In addition, there is the impression that the OU men are at least competing for a conference championship, while the women are currently seen by many as non-competitive with Baylor.

I don't really have a point here. I just see this comparison between the men and women's basketball programs interesting.

It is kick in the gut.Look at the social media present for the sooners. It non existence.I think it a culture at OU they want do to thing the way they used to.That not working in this day and age.If changes not made they will fall to bottom of the Big12.It not just about getting players it about having something to get excited about.Hopefully the staff can get Gray and some other players to help turn this around.

Unfortunately, I tend to agree. Both staff and players have to "want it" and work that much harder to turn it around. We'll see if we do.

I agree. That is the very reason I have said our recruiting in 2017 is critical. We have 5 ships available. IF we don't sign Gray, or some players just as good, I think we all will be able to see the writing on the wall. A great point guard is a must!

In men's BB Kansas is far more dominant than Baylor is in women's basketball. How many straight Big 12 conference championships does Kansas have vs how many straight does Baylor have. Since 2005 the women have beaten Baylor 11 times, since 2005 the men have beaten Kansas twice.

Right now It'll be Baylor, Texas, at the top of the Big 12, with OU, TCU, WVU, and maybe even Kansas on the next level... I'm not sure Gray will be the answer.

I believe from 2006 until 2010 we beat Baylor 10 out of 13 times? Now, Baylor is beating us about every single time we play each other. In ugly fashion, as well. I thought things would go in cycles, but unfortunately, Baylor is here to stay. We will keep fighting for third and fourth place finishes in the Big 12 if nothing is done. Maybe fall even further. We can't keep doing the same things we have been doing over and over again. Something has to change. Only the coaches and players know exactly what that is.

Sherri has failed in the past to get the five star players out of Oklahoma. She missed out on Courtney Walker, Danielle Gant, Alyssa Brewer, Angel Goodrich, and Isis Tillis just to name a few. It would help if she would sign the best talent to come out of the state. I also have a problem of who she has on staff. She hires those that she is the closest to rather than the best person available for the job. With all the missed layups and unforced turnovers the team commits, I see this as a problem with teaching fundamentals. Maybe she should take a lesson from Bob Stoops and make what changes are necessary.

We have beaten Baylor once since the 10-11 season.

Once with this group though is noteworthy.

Cox, defintiely isn't Breanna Stewart- I find it hard to believe Baylor will be as good next year. Could be wrong, but I think Niya Johnson was everything to them.

None the less, I think we have a really good team next year. We disgustingly underperformed this season, but the talent is here.

then with that being said, If this group doesn't do something over the next two years- I expect some changes. Whether that is team personnel, coaching personnel or just philosophy, I don't expect it to to stay the same. I don't think they ever ask Coach Coale to leave, I don't think they should unless we can't break the top 50 for an extended period of time at some point. But I do really expect this group to improve for next year though, so I don't think its wise to get too low on them. imo

Looking forward, our minimum goal each year has to be finishing in the top 16. The way the NCAA is set up now, those are the people that get the home sites for rounds 1 and 2. That means they have a better chance of advancing, which means they get more visibility, which means they have a better chance of getting top recruits, which means they have a better chance of finishing in the top 16......

The current system is rich get richer, poor get poorer. We need to get on the richer side.

I guess I am more optimistic than most. We have the talent to be in the top 16 and we have the coach. I expect a marked improvement next year.

We have a McD all-american this year and probably one next year and if we can land Murcer we will probably have one the next year.

I think we have been underachieving so recruiting is not the biggest problem. Are we recruiting as well as Baylor and Texas, no but we may be among the top 20.

The team seems to not have cohesion and are very inconsistent, individually and as a team. I think that is our biggest problem. And if we are going to compete with Baylor we need to step up recruiting. Murcer is a must get. Supposedly she really likes OU and Sherri.

OU is going to have to get top level kids that play against other top level kids. Nothing against Murcer but she is not there yet but could be. Right now they have to look who is on the stage for top clubs that are '17 and '18. I got a chance to see a few games at Marchfest as well as a few at She's Ballin at San Antonio. All of the top Texas teams were on display at that one. OU has lots of kids to choose from if they are looking for players who want to stay closer to home just has to get in on some of them.
