Had some very interesting email exchanges with Berry regarding this very issue.
Did you know Boone gave UT 100,000,000 dollars back in 2007?That was actually an interesting read. I had no idea oSu's vet building was named for Boren

The veterinary teaching hospital in Stillwater is named for Boren; it was his pet project when he was Oklahoma's governor in the 1970s.
as much as I dislike OSUx I hafta agree with this. We need to be in the same conference.
Why?
Why?
I'll take a shot at an answer.
We aren't a 'rich' state like Texas, nor do we have a large population. We have only 2 full fledged state universities. We need for them to cooperate as is described in the article. We need for our two universities to be the best they can be in every aspect - academic and otherwise. If we weren't in the same conference, OSU would be in a lesser conference. Athletically, they could become like Tulsa University. Even though the pure academics would never admit it, that's not in the best interests of the state of Oklahoma.
I did not realize Boren had a fiduciary responsibility to OSU. Is that written in the state charter? Since Boone gave Texas 100,000,000 dollars, the least he can do is show his appreciation and write a 100,000,000 check to OU. It's about time Boren and JC start thinking about their own fans. The next time Joe wants to raise ticket prices, he should send an invoice to Holder and let his fans pick up the tab for once. If you look at what is currently happening at aTm, people are finally getting sick and tired of being told to shut up and write the check.
I wouldn't use Texas A&M or their fanbase as an example that anyone should emulate.
Boren has no fiduciary responsibility to OSU but he and Hargis both have a responsibility to the State of Oklahoma. If it became impossible for both schools to be in the same conference and the only choice we had was to split I'm sure we would. Thankfully, that wasn't the situation.

I hope the decision aTm made will end up costing them 20 million dollars in donations.
I used to agree, but not selling individual football tickets to OU fans [many of whom are tax paying Oklahomans] sort of of soured me on that. It is a petty position they took...and clearly not in the interest of the State and its citizens.
