OUHoops Round Table #1- The Point Guard battle

A Henzo sighting! Always a good thing to see.

My take: Carl Blair for reasons stated in the article. Experience wins at this level.

I also like Newell being able to come off the bench at either lead guard position.

Interesting take. Care to predict what game will be the changing of the guard for newell? Personally I think there will be at least one change of starting pg during the first 2 months, but the starter by the second game after christmas will be the starter the rest of the season. But who that will be I don't even know enough to speculate.

I think the start of the year it'll be Blair, by conference play it'll be Newell.

The obvious choice is TJ Franklin. He's been in Capel's system the longest.

I went with Calvin Newell... Quicker, more athletic, better shooter. Obviously he is a freshman and Blair is a soph, but I think Newell is going to be better.

But, OU should be good at PG regardless.

Well if we do bad in Maui like most people on the board are predicting, I think it will be right when we get back.

Wow, alot of people seem to be wrong on blair. Thats why we cant compare anyone who has played at schools like new orleans to top highschool talent.

You're right, there is no way i thought our best three point threat would be running the point

Aren't Pledgers minutes at the point significantly less than Newell's? I know Pledge starts but he hands over the reigns a few minutes in then Cal takes over the rest of the game.

Pledger has played about 35 or 36 minutes a game. Newell has played about 24 minutes. Don't know how many of those minutes Pledger is playing the 2.
