Our Biggest Problem?

There are some issues with this team right now, but is our biggest problem the hype that we bestowed upon this team?

We knew we had a solid team coming back, and they are solid - above average. But, when did the hype and expectations really skyrocket for this team? It seemed like around the same time that the Football team started to fall apart. Did we want to have a winner so bad that we just burdened a slightly above average basketball team, with the expectations of winning the conference? I'm starting to feel that way.

- The national media has never really been on board with us winning the conference, as most picked KU or UT.
- We haven't really been ranked higher that ~15.
- We have lost to some teams that ended up being BAD (Creighton, Wash, KSU)

We have a few good players in Thomas, Cousins, and Buddy, but outside of that, we aren't anything special. I feel as if we should refine our expectations for this team. After seeing what we've got, I would be ecstatic with a top 4 finish in the conference, and I wouldn't be upset at all with taking the 5th spot.

We've got to stop setting ourselves up for failure. We did it in Football, lets not wait until its too late in basketball!

I think Spangler is pretty good. He had 10 points and 6 rebounds in a what was one of his worst games for OU.

Ok, Spangler can be productive as well. But, you are missing the point. You took one line out of my whole statement, which is something much bigger than Spangler.

So can Walker, Woodard, Lattin and Booker. As a freshman, Woodard scored 24 points against Tulsa, 23 against WVU and 20 against A&M. Walker had 10 just the other day. Last year Booker had 15 against OSU and 12 against Louisiana Tech. Lattin has had some solid minutes this year. The problem is consistency with these young guys.

I'm a realist. And right now, we aren't very good. Just trying to point out that I've lowered my expectations, and at the end of the year, our team will likely meet my expectations. Will they meet yours? Probably not. Have fun being disappointed, while I'm happy as can be with a top 4 finish in the league and around a 5 of 6 seed in the tourney!

Pinning me as a poke fan is just rediculous. The only player I've ever directly criticized in any of my posts is Woodard, rightfully deserved IMO. I've been nothing but overly positive towards Buddy, Cousins and Thomas.

I thought I remembered seeing some analysts picking OU as a final four dark horse if Thomas was ruled eligible?

Regardless my expectations were to compete for a big 12 title the day he was given the thumbs up. Those expectations have not changed. Sure we have some issues, but most teams do at some point in the season, Duke just suffered back to back upset losses, doubt their fans are ready to call it a sinking ship.

Will OU win the big 12 and make a deep tourney run? Maybe, maybe not. Do they have the talent to do it? Absolutely.

Hey! lol I want us to win and objectively point out where I think we have or will have problems.

You will never find me breaking down OSU games and giving play by play on how they coulda shoulda woulda etc.

Nobody can ever cause me of being a gomer aggy poser. Am I a little pessimistic on Kruger and our talent level? Yeah I am, because of the recruiting rankings and on court performance.
