Out of Bounds Plays - KU

Did anyone notice how far out of bounds the KU defender would be standing and waving his arms while we were trying to pass it in? It was especially obvious when we were on their side and they were protecting the lane. One time he was at a 45 degree angle with one foot out of bounds and his arm waving about 2 feet over the line, another he was straight up but over half of his feet were over the line and he was reaching further.

My friend and I were yelling like crazy for the ref to simply look at his feet. Our offense was stagnant in the first half I would have been happy to add a few free throws to our total. Just couldn't believe how it happened 4 or 5 times and no one noticed, or said anything.

I don't think it's illegal for the defender to be out of bounds as long as he is giving the inbounder enough space. Now if he actually touched the ball while out of bounds that may be different.

I could have sworn it's in the rule book you can't cross the line. That's why guys will back up a bit to give more space.

Granted, if he's over the line, what's to stop you from just throwing it off of him to get a T so that he technically touches the ball out of bounds?

Believe it wouldn't be a technical, just delay of game.

No part of the defender's body can be over the plane of the out of bounds line.
Sometimes you will see the ref blow an in-bounds play dead to tell the defender to stop leaning across the line.
