That hasn't worked as planned to this point. Woodard missed the Dec. 21 game against Auburn with a groin injury and then missed the Big 12 opener against Baylor due to an undisclosed medical issue. Woodard, the Sooners leading scorer, is expected to miss Tuesday's game.

Is there any chance we could shut him down and medical redshirt him, or have we played too high a percentage of the season?

How many games as he played in? If it is less than 10, then it would be under 30 percent.

oudna is correct. If the exhibition game does not count, then Woodard has played in 10 games so far. With the Big 12 tourney game included, OU has 31 games on its schedule.

10/31 = 32%. 10/34 = 29.4%

This situation seems weird to me. Why don't they just say what the "issue" is?

Because players have a right to privacy with regards to their health. If Jordan wants us to know what the problem is, we'll find out. And that's as it should be.

Jordan's privacy is not just a right, it's dictated by a federal law defined in the "Health Insurance Portability and Accountability" (HIPPA) Act of 1996.
OU's silence on this matter is not only a policy, they are bound by law to protect his right to privacy.

Schools, coaches, hospitals and care givers, etc everywhere have no choice but to follow HIPPA guidelines. The only way they can legally release the information is with a written authorization from the patient or his parents or legal guardian, if they're dealing with a minor. Doing so without written permission is a serious violation of federal law that could create unwanted and unnecessary legal problems for the university as well as our basketball program.

And for what, to satisfy a group of curious, impatient fans who believe they have a right to know what is going on? I don't think .

I mean has the school said anything regarding his absence? I understand Hippa and giving woodard privacy but it would be odd if a school didn't say he was still recovering from a groin injury or atleast say for personal or undisclosed reasons

Need to get to 34 games for him to be under 30%. Scheduled for minimum of 31. Seems impossible at this point.

You can't count tournament games for a medical hardship/redshirt anyway. It has to be less than 30% or less of the regular season games which is just 30 games, and as you mentioned, Woodard has played in 10 games..... would be over even if they count the first round of the B12 tourney. If you counted tournament games it would give an unfair advantage to teams like Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, over mediocre teams whose seasons are cut short because of losing an injured key player.

OU had a similar situation with Kevin Bookout a few years ago where he played in 1 or 2 games too many. They applied anyway and were denied.

won't be back anytime soon

well I hope he gets better.

this team will be fine learning while he's gone.

the decades after college are so much more important than the scant few years you're there.

because I do. not related to groin injury, can't say other wise but its not good. Still running tests to see plan of action. Doubtful he travels with team

damn. Will say some prayers. I hope it isn't anything too serious like cancer, etc.
