Peyton Little Signs with OU

Y'all got a good one in Peyton. Those stats are not really indicative of what she can do. She suffered a shooting slump mid-season and never worked her way out of it, but her hustle and ability to drive to the hoop made up for it. Lots of rumors about why she left, but at least part of it was playing time, or lack thereof. She was never going to be a regular starter. She's got talent and even though she left, all the Aggie fans wish her the best at OU.

Edit to add: I'm just glad she didn't choose Baylor.

Uncle David transferred from Texas Tech.
3 years scored 1229 points, 18.6 per game.
On '83 squad with Waymon, Bo Overton, Big Charles Jones, Shawn Clark, Chucky Barnett among others. Pretty darn good team.

Sherri has recruited a bunch of outstanding high school 3 point shooters over the years: Hand, Vining, Hook, AE, Kornet, and now little. Some, hand and AE, hit the ground running and shooting the 3 about like what was expected. But, most have needed an adjustment period. Bigger stadiums, different sight lines and closer defenders, just to name a few of the differences.

If Peyton has been a good shooter all of her life, I wouldn't get too worried. It is in there somewhere and it is likely Sherri will bring it back. Kornet has a nice shot, and I think we will see her shoot the 3 with much greater consistency next year and beyond as well.

If Peyton can shoot half as good as her uncle, I'll take it. David Little = born shooter.

Hopefully she can be like her Uncle David, who I remember dropping buzzer-beater treys on OSU two years in a row.

They did not have a 3 point line when David Little was playing. I believe it came in when Tim McCalister was at OU.

I stand corrected. Anyway, my recollection is that he beat OSU at Stillwater with last second outside shots two years in a row.

He always seemed to dropping them in from the corners. He was deadly from outside. Oddly enough, at 6'7", he could barely dunk the ball.

He would have been deadly on treys, along with Bo Overton and Chuck Barnett, had that been in the rules at the time.

It's interesting to think about how much better the OU team of '78-79 would have been with David Little. He almost signed while in high school. That team was pretty good anyway - Big 8 regular season tournament and regular season champs, final ranking of No. 16 in the country, etc.

I'm tickled to death we have Peyton. I don't worry about a shooting slump. The cream always rises to the top. :woot
