Damn, kid's a player!

Hilarious listen to Walton pout about the ending of the Ucla game. Begging for a technical on the home fans. Come on.

"This court storming is unacceptable. The safety of the players must come first."

Was about to post how much we needed a guy like Pritchard. Losing him was big.

Curious to see what Grandstaff does when eligible too.

Pritchard was a monster loss. He would've been like Woodard....starter from day one.

Grandstaff was/most likely still is a headcase.

I don't think we lost out on much with Grandstaff.

OU got to close the deal with these type of guys.

Of course, he was right. He's certainly not the only person to speak out against court-storming.

I don't think anyone would argue this if he weren't just whining about it because it was against UCLA.....he's so biased it isn't funny. He talked the entire game basically that it was cute that Oregon was putting up such a good fight but that they weren't going to have enough to hang with UCLA in the end. When Oregon not only hung in there after a UCLA run but then hit the game winning shot he went in to melt down mode complaining about them rushing the court and how it should be a technical foul and so forth.

Again, I'm not saying any of that isn't true but IF the tables were turned I'm not sure he would have been screaming for a technical against UCLA in favor of Oregon.

Now my personal opinion is Oregon honestly should expect to win that game and that rushing the court is a joke in that scenario. They were a top 10 and in some cases a top 5 team coming into the season and beat a rival at home. It's the same feeling I get when any team in the Big 12 rushes the court after not beating KU for years.....

Yes, it was quite the 180 from Walton.

Walton is the biggest moron in all of sports. I hate that guy

Another rant about an announcer having a bias against some team. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

I love Bill Walton calling random regular season games. He makes it fun, guy is great. I wouldn't want him calling the final four or anything, but regular season is great.

I didn't get to watch last night, but the times I have been able to listen to him, you can almost count on him using the moniker "Conference of Champions" at least 8-10 times in the telecast. Thing is, it'll be 20 years since a Pac team won the title ( Arizona in '97 w/ that team that upset KU) & the only other time a Pac team has won it since John Wooden won his last in '75 was when O'Bannon led UCLA to it 2 years earlier. I guess I'm missing it, but at what point exactly does that phrase no longer apply?

The Conference of Champions is the nickname for the conference as a whole, not just the basketball league. It is called that because it has won more team NCAA titles than any other conference. I don't have the numbers handy, but if memory serves, they lead by a wide margin. A lot of those titles are in Olympic sports that many/most schools around the country don't have, so make of that what you will. In any event, that is why they have the nickname and why he says it so often. Personally I love Walton because he keeps it fun and, when you focus on his actual analysis, he clearly knows his stuff. But I know he isn't everyone's cup of tea ... I'm pretty sure I'm outnumbered even in my own family on the subject!

On another note, and back to the thread, something tells me that if Peyton had come to OU, we'd all be finding every flaw in his game and wondering why he wasn't already averaging 15 points and 8 assists. Trust me, I lose sleep over every loss and am as disappointed as anyone that we didn't get two or three more wins in the noncon. But for some on the board to act like Lon needs to change his recruiting philosophy, or to suggest that he isn't capable of getting the program back to the second weekend of the tourney, is ludicrous. We are nine months removed from a Final Four appearance, and please don't forget what a mess the program was when he took over for Capel. Patient is the last word anyone would use to describe me, but I feel like Job compared to some of the posters who show up after losses.
