Play harder on D

Hopefully the players get a chance to see this thread during the next timeout, that way they'll play harder on D.

Yep, I was frustrated at our lack of D during the first 8 minutes of the game and made a dumb post. It's a good thing we have posters like you to remind me of this (wipes brow).

I sometimes forget how youthful we are at guard. There are no juniors or seniors on the perimeter (except Cam). They still have a lot to learn. Alabama gave them a lesson on using dribble penetration to attack the defense. I bet the coaching staff uses the tape of this game to teach our young guards to improve their defense against this type of attack. Obviously, the post players also have to defend the rim when the guards get beat. It should be interesting to us, as fans, to see how the team improves in this area. This group can become better defenders, as they do not lack in length, quickness or athleticism.

The good news is that OU did not have to lose to get exposed to this lesson. A neutral site win against the SEC is a great way to start the season.

Just from watching the game, I hate the optics of some of our perimeter defense. But, our guards weren't in any foul trouble. There's were and it hurt their chances of winning. I'm pretty sure the rule changes are in their head some and they will get to the right balance.
