A poster named CGates on Rivals says that we are looking at Kevin Punter from State Fair Community College in Missouri. Apparently we've been in contact before but might be picking up our interest of late (along with some other teams). Rivals shows a recent Mizzou offer (first major offer). 20 ppg average.

Take it FWIW but CGates is a long-time poster over there and has a rep for being "in-the-know".

A longer March 9 Rivals article has quotes - things just now really heating up in recruitment, wants to have impact quickly and be part of a winning team - the usual. Auburn and Wichita State may be soon to offer. Article has no mention of OU but he sounds like he will use all his visits and then decide.

OU Rivals also has a new article on Shake Milton. Sounds like he has a really good relationship w/ OU Asst Coach Chris Crutchfield.

Yeah his Dad was a higher up in Nike and handled college teams, so he is well connected in some circles. Throw in the fact he and Steve Henson are childhood friends, I would trust him. Told him a couple weeks ago to talk to the coaches about finding a Juco big that was D1 ready!

Hate to say it, but somebody transferring maybe?

Or maybe he's just a fantastic talent you throw your name in the ring. Can't see any of our guys transferring, but if a kid blows up and you think he is a difference maker, I wouldn't be sad to get him. I know we have needs elsewhere, but if there are no posts we see as helping us more than the freshman coming in.....

I could see Hornbeak transferring. Would hate to see it though.

Then why sign this guy? If OU is losing Hornbeak they desperately need a back up pg.

There may not be any decent pg options left that the staff likes. In that case, you add the best guard you can get, especially if he can handle the ball okay, and take your chances.

If anybody finds shooting percentages, or shots taken stats on this guy, I'd love to see them.

Thanks.

Seems to shoot it pretty well.

I did some quick calcs, because what I really like in his percentages, it looks like he can take it to the hole.

57.1% FG, 37.1% 3P FG

So I went in and took out his 3P shots in each game and his 2P FG %? 64.9%!!

With the way we relied on the 3 a little too much last year, would be nice to have a guy who would drive the bucket, and even when he gets there, he shot 82.7% from the charity stripe.

FWIW, the degree of Mizzou's interest (offer aside) is dependent on someone leaving. No open scholarships at the moment. There are a few guys that could leave to make room, but nothing's happened on that front yet (at least publicly).

I can't imagine spending two years in Sedalia would make a person want to stay in Missouri, though. Not exactly a fun town.

My money is on Auburn.
