Postives, negatives from OU's season

Bringing in two top 100 high school prospects or borderline top 100 prospects and a former starter that led his team in both scoring and rebounding is a solid recruiting class. Additionally, the class isn't necessarily finished. OU might add a juco player or two. Plus Henry still might join the team.

Well scout has updated their rankings and Hield is a 2 star and Hornbeak is a 3 star...and neither one of them is in their list of the top 30 SGs in that class. ESPN has theirs updated and Hield is on the outside of theit top 100 list but is a 4 star and is the 20th SG and Hornbeak is the 31st SG in their rankings. Rivals hasn't updated their list...so I am curious if they will stay in the top 100. I hear good things about MBaye but I heard great things about Osby and adding him to the team didn't get us any more wins, I also heard good things about Ryan Wright, and all I know is that Wyoming has won 10 more games this season w/o MBaye. But MBaye is more of last years recruiting class and not this years.

My definition of a solid recruiting class is when having 5 scholarships available...We have at least 4 of them filled up...Not just having 2 signed, 1 potential non-qualifier, and 2 available scholarships.

Right now, according to scout, The current top 100 Big 12 signees
Baylor has Isaiah Austin, Ricardo Gathers, and LJ Rose.
Texas has Cameron Ridley, Prince Ibeh, and Javan Felix.
OSU has Marcus Smart.
KU has Perry Ellis, and Andrew White.
K-ST has Robert Upshaw.
W.V. has Elijah Macon.
ISU has Georges Niang.

You notice who doesn't have anyone on that list... The current 2 worst teams in the big 12 us, T.T., and you can add TCU in that mix.

So I'm sorry if i'm not jumping for joy with what recruits Kruger has brought in since he has been here.

Good Lord you are tough to please. LK hasn't even been the OU head coach for 12 full months yet.

Hield and Hornbeak, regardless of where they are currently ranked, are going to be just fine at OU. As for the "unfilled" scholarships, again, what do you expect? We didn't know until late in the process (or relatively late), that we'd have additional ships to give. I'm sure if LK had known that Newell was going to transfer, or that Henry wouldn't make his grades, he'd have kept recruiting for the 2012 class.

Nobody is arguing that LK is cleaning house in recruiting. He isn't. He shouldn't have been expected to. We all knew that 2013 was going to be his first real attempt at bringing in talented kids. That is the first class that I will really judge him on.

I don't understand the "fans" that are already jumping on LK. This guy has what, a 20 year track record of getting programs turned around? He WILL turn OU around, and get us back to the Dance on a regular basis. It may be 2014 before that happens, given the roster makeup he inherited, but it will happen.

Who gives a crap where they are rated? Hield and Hornbeak are both great prospects. Also, look at their offer lists. Looks like some other big boys in college basketball think the same. I think Kruger's doing pretty well in recruiting for the limited sample we have to judge him on. He is also battling the negative cloud of probation, in addition to the reputation hit this program has taken from the last 3 years of sucking. Jeff Capel, the gift that just keeps on giving....

This is from the same guy who thought Capel should return because he gave us our best chance to get past the sweet 16.

So, were you jumping for joy when Capel was signing Orlando Allen, Ray Willis, Tony Neysmith, Kyle Cannon, Chris Early, etc.?

The + OU is 2 years away from becoming a legitimate basketball program.

Didn't Capel have to deal with probation from a previous coach.

Also the teams with the weakest Team Rankings in recruiting are doing the worse in the big 12. FACT

Chris Early and Neysmith came in with Griffin(Top 25 player)...so I'm ok with that class
Cannon, Allen, and Willis came in with Willie Warren(top 25 Player) and Pattillo...I'm ok with that class.
I'm fine taking a chance on those players when you add instant playmakers to the roster like Warren and Griffin.

Not too mention that those 2 recruiting classes helped us get to the Elite 8.

Aren't you the one trying to lecture others on expecting too much from incoming freshman because they are highly rated? Talk out of both sides of your mouth much? Stop clinging to Capel and get on-board with whats happening now.

I never expected much from Griffin, Warren, TMG, Gallon, Fitzgerald as freshmen but that doesn't mean that its not obvious that keeping Griffin for a 2nd year and bringin in Warren(2 top 25 recruits) and having 2 senior starters(T. Griffin and A.Johnson), and a junior(Crocker), helped get us to the elite 8. You guys just assumed that after Blake went pro, Taylor and Johnson graduated, and Pattillo got kicked off that we weren't going to struggle. And struggle even more when TMG, Warren, and Gallon all bolted.

As for Capel, he's gone. But that still doesn't deviate from the fact that Capels last recruiting class was horrible(which ended in a horrible season), Krugers 1st recruiting class was horrible(which ended in a horrible season), and right now, Krugers 2nd recruiting class looks just as good as Texas Tech committments which is nothing to brag about.

The positive thing is Kruger is here and Capel is the #3 assistant at Duke where he belongs.

The fact Capel has gone hasn't changed the fact you still clown post. :facepalm

The positive to me was that this team was much more watchable than last year, and had a more consistent effort. They did a good job rebounding, particularly when considering our frontcourt doesn't have a true center. Osby and Fitzgerald emerged as a strong duo in the frontcourt as well.

The negatives were the inconsistency overall, particularly with the guards on offense. Cameron Clark disappeared for most of the season, but had a few nice games. We really need some offense out of the SF position if we don't get it from the PG. Grooms is a solid PG, but he's not really a scorer.

Overall, it's a step in the right direction and the team should be a little deeper next year. We really need help at the guard positions, so hopefully Hield and Hornbreak are able to contribute right away. Also, we really need better SF play, be it from Clark or Neal.
