everytime i get on here a new thread is being closed...the last one being a poll on why our coach left...this is a fine question in my opinion and one that needs to be asked...capel has now lost 5 players this year alone and 2 coaches...

What are message boards for if you cannot express your opinion (just like every other message board, just like espn, just like announcers...ect)

lol certain people are closing threads way to quickly...next thing you know another coach leaves and we cannot say anything about it on here, silly.

I'd just let everyone vent and let it go down the bottom of the page.

I don't have a problem with everyone jumping ship, but I question the motive. Regardless, Capel's new hires will just make this whole thing quite interesting IMHO.

Did you read Ada's comments when he closed the thread?

Talk about Coach Cline leaving all you want. But we're not going to get into polls and potentially wild speculation and theory about his departure.

No one is stopping anyone from discussing Coach Cline leaving. But a 'Did you quit beating your wife yet?' type poll serves no purpose.

well, they're entitled to run their board any way they want and set any mood by it they want. I don't disagree with taking a positive approach.

There is something going on though. NO WAY this is all coincidence and just "the way things timed out".

Maybe coach wanted to do a complete 180 on his old style and is gonna be a stern taskmaster...or maybe he wants one of those for an assistant. Who knows. But there are "strange things afoot at the" LNC.

I didn't see anything wrong with asking people if they thought Cline leaving was a sign of turmoil or if he thought Marshall was a better gig for him (being in West Virginia).

Perhaps I, like the Sheriff of Rottingham, need to learn how to talk about bad news in a good way?

Am I the only one that really couldn't care less about this? The sun will rise tomorrow and we'll hire some new coaches. BFD.

And yes they can close whichever thread they want whenever they want an for whatever reason they want. Period.

Or, perhaps you could ascertain that the news was indeed bad, first.

"no way this is all coincidence".................

WAY.

How would I go about ascertaining that information? When the assistant who has been with your coach since his coaching career began leaves the #2 spot at OU to go coach at Marshall my first thought is that its bad news.

I suppose you disagree?

Some people would wait until the new assistants are brought in to make a judgement.

I don't have an opinion one way or another about the individual assistants. But, if any other school in the Big XII had the turmoil and number of losses that we had this year I would have predicted either a new head coach or some new assistants.

The assistants always fall on the sword first if the opportunity is there. It's how it works. Cline found a good fit in his home state. It's a win-win.

I suppose I don't know. When I don't know things, I don't make assumptions until I do know, regardless of what my first thought is.

I'm kinda hoping it's ex sooners like Stacey or jeff.... Maybe capel is thinking this so he can sell kids on ou not individual coaches that way we get people we want to be a sooner and help build our tradition instead of a coach saying my goal is to get u to the NBA

I just looked back over the last 10 pages of posts (250 threads started total over the past two weeks) and only four of them were locked. So if a new thread is being closed every time you get on here, you must not be getting on much. I've told the mods pretty much anything goes after this disastrous season, but that doesn't mean there are a few exceptions.

If you all want to say "Fire Capel" or "Fire Joe C." or "Fire Boomer and Sooner" go for it. Heck, I've even insinuated in some posts a while back I wouldn't mind if Capel was fired. We've lightened our stance a lot since the end of the season so to sit here and act like we're ruling with an iron fist and locking multiple posts daily isn't right.

That being said, Cline is a truly stand-up and good guy and I've heard his departure is due more to personal stuff and being closer to home than issues at OU.

My apologies then... Just frustrated like everyone else woundeding when this is going to end... I hope cline left for personal reasons and if that's the case it's just real wierd timing. I just don't see a end to this nightmare. Unless we get a stellar recruiting class next year I fear capel will be the next to go

there have been some threads that i feel didn't warrant a lock, and some that weren't locked that should have been. but that poll served no purpose except getting into wild and unfounded speculations.

This. If you don't believe so ask Jimmy Williams. Cline took a good deal. One more bad year and he would have been fired. Capel needs some new blook. Not the old OU greats that everyone wants, but some people who are well versed in Xs and Os and recruiting.
