AK brother has passed away. Prayers to his family.

prayers are definitely in order....but have you been on an island the last couple days?

Missed that thread. My bad! Just searched it.

If his brother had been having problems prior to AK coming to OU, could that explain why AK left his team for a while during his last year of junior college?

Anyway, you have to really feel for AK and his family. I believe the article indicated that he's also lost his parents.

As someone who's experienced mental illness himself in the past, my condolences go out to AK and his entire family. They are without doubt going through unspeakable grief right now, and will be for some time, and they all have my deepest sympathies.

I only wish for the entire family that his brother had been able to understand the grief that his family will be going through for years, the depths to which he was doubtlessly loved. But that's the thing with depression or many mental illnesses...they are unable to see that or understand it.

All my best to you, AK, and your family.

This is all true. Someone very dear to me came very close to suicide, and her pain and anguish was such that it was the only path she could imagine taking. Her pain would be ended and she sincerely felt we'd all be better off without her.

I'm very grateful that she was brought back from the abyss and that she's doing much better now, but I shudder to think of this wonderful person ending her life and of the grief and loss I (and many others) would have experienced if we hadn't. I give thanks for her reprieve every day.

This is terribly sad news. I wish AK and his family nothing but the best.
