The Field House definitely has a more a college feel. But yes 'who wants a free t-shirt guy' was still there doing his annoying bit during every timeout.
I was at the Monroe game yesterday and was sad to see what has happened to student interest in the basketball program. When I was there during the latter part of the Sampson era students went to basketball games and got there early to save seats. Sure, a game like yesterday's wouldn't have packed the section, but there would have been more than 30 non-band, non-spirit squad people there.

Student sections all over the country are struggling right now, let's just focus on getting this team winning again and when they win, the fans will be back.... There are people who are spending 24/7/365 right now to improve this issue, that's all I can say about this right now

Tulsa's student section looked nice last night against Louisiana Shreveport.

My opinion:
OU took a step back when they tried to open the "Crimzone" on the sideline and moving the student section from nice corner seats to more behind the basket. Most students didn't care about the Crimzone and ended up getting worse seats out of the deal. Then, they shut down the Crimzone and again moved the students further behind the basket.
I also think that letting students print their tickets online has hurt a built-in awareness mechanisim. You used to see people on campus get excited about basketball by simply picking up their tickets for the group.
Winning will help a lot, but I think student enthusiasm was higher at the end of Sampson than it was even during Blake's Elite Eight season. It's going to take a lot to make going to basketball games a thing students just did as a matter of course because right now it's not on the radar.
I applaud your efforts and hope whatever you can't tell us about will work because it's a shame it's gone this way.

Just got to keep chugging along. UCO was great. Yesterday sucked. Winning will ultimately be the answer, BUT, what you guys are doing will make it better when the students do come.
I was thinking about making up game fact sheets like I used to do several years ago (mostly little stats I borrow from Soonersports.com). I like them because it let's the students know a little bit about the other team (coach's name, best player, guys on our team that are on hot streaks etc). If I started making them could you guys print them off/pass them out? The basketball office used to print them for me back in the day.
Just a thought.
