Putnam West wants to knock its opponents out of sorts. Edmond Memorial found that out first-hand.

With a suffocating fullcourt press, No. 1 Putnam West forced No. 9 Edmond Memorial into more than 25 turnovers for a dominating 69-51 victory to win the Putnam City Invitational for a second straight year.

“We want to get teams out of their comfort zone,” Putnam West coach Carlos Adamson said.

Leading 29-22 entering the third, Putnam West’s defense forced 10 turnovers to increase its lead to 15.

It also got a big night from senior Ce’Nara Skanes, who was named tournament MVP for a second straight year. The Florida International signee scored 16 points and had four steals.

“I feel like we did good today,” Skanes said. “This was probably one of our best defensive games.”
