Question about OSU...

3 way race at point Penn, Gulley, Dowell

3 way race at center Shaw, Walker, Akol

I think that Dowell and Akol will transfer for playing time.

You know what time it is. This is basically a tryout to see if you can cut it on this level. I don't know about Dowell as a player, but the fact that he's 4th in a 4way race for PT at the PG is not good. I think he'll get an opportunity though due to his experience of being a distributor. Akol is gone. He has to far to go.

OU has a guy or three who may be facing the same senario depending on what OU does in the late period.

Teeng Akol needs to transfer, redshirt, work on his game, and then come back strong. He could survive in Conference USA, Mountain West, WAC, or Missouri Valley basketball.

If Reger is 4th on the depth chart at his position he should transfer... Again, C-USA, WAC, MWC, MVC...

Ford has said he wants Dowell at the two guard not the point.
Akol was supposedly progressing quite well before his injury, and would have been competing for playing time.
This same situation occurred last recruiting class and everyone was worried about over signing however one person didn't qualify and an extra person left the team. I'm inclined to think Ford knows what he is doing.

My OSU sense was tingling...

I'd say the top candidates are:

Teeng Akol and Nick Sidorakis. Sidoraki's dad is a high up at Southern Hills Golf Course in Tulsa, and could pay his own way if he still wants to stay at OSU. Akol (even more so with his recent injury) will be behind 4 guys in the post rotation and even more depending on how Cobbins adapts.

There is also the possibility of one of the freshman signees not qualifying. Olukemi and Cobbins seem shoe-ins to qualify so it looks like it would have to be one of the Louisiana guys. Of course that's 100% pure conjecture on my part.

Page is also a candidate to pay his own way, and with him being an OSU fan he'd be a guy who might take one for the team.

Pilgrim might try to go play in Europe as well, if he has a good enough season, since this would be his 5th year of college ball.

I'd also say the 3rd man out on the Penn, Gulley, Dowell trio might decide to hit the road too.

I think you have lost your mind thinking Page or Sidorakis is going to pay their own way. These are competitive guys. They are not going to say I am not good enough for a scholarship. Furthermore, Ford would be a fool to do this. You don't ask a kid that contributed significantly as a freshman to pay his own way (I realize that applies to Page more than Sidorakis). High school coaches in Oklahoma are watching and they will remember an @SS move like that.

If Sikorakis does not get any real minutes this year and decides to transfer (even if Ford tells him he probably should unless he is happy simply being a practice player because he is not going to get real minutesi)that is one thing. But to think these guys should give up their scholarships is so freaking stupid only an Aggie would suggest it. (It would be one thing if their dad was super wealthy like a former athlete or a celebrity (someone with millions and I mean more than $10,000,000) but some guy working at Southern Hills is probably not super wealthy - and I am not insulting that job, I have no idea what he makes but $10K is a lot of money even if you make $150K or $200K a year).

Ford told the OKlahoman that sidorkas is his 6th man! No six man I know is walking on....

I wasn't making any predictions. I was just outlining some possible scenarios. I don't think it's outlandish as you guys do, but we'll see next May or so.

My bet is Akol and Dowell at this point. With the wildcard being Pilgrim going pro to Europe.

I would put my money on dowell bc of depth. Akol is supposed to be "breaking out" from what I hear. surely one of the 4 point guards transfer

You have lost your mind. What parent is going to say to Caoch Ford that they are cool with OSU promising a scholarship and revoking it so they will just start writing checks to an institution that lied to them and their child. It is not going to happen.

Ford would never propose this. I have zero problem with the notion that he might tell a kid or two it is unlikely they will get any signficant minutes and may want to transfer if their goal is to get playing time. However, I would hope Coach Ford would never force a good kid to transfer. Coaches should honor scholarships.

thats when you know your good...

He said that Sid was one of the 5 best players at the beginning of last year also.

Sid does his job. For 5-8 minutes a game, he plays solid D, doesn't turn it over, he's a good passer and hits when he's open. I'd be worried if we had to depend on him for more time than that, but we don't.

Pilgrim was rather upset about his debut, I'd look for him to have a stronger performance thursday night.

Please dont be a buzzkill. We're expecting big Sooner news.

Good call by HoHum. Akol transferred and Sidorakis is going to pay his way.
