Raising #3

Wow congratulations to CP3 it’s about time... in honor of Courtney here’s a old game form her freshman year... Paris is definitely one of the best players in college basketball history

Unfortunately for Paris Sherri could never get the right players to put around her...

She and Stacy are the royalty of the program.

(wonder if they will bring in prospects for the ceremony?)

I would have to disagree, for the most part. N.Stevenson, A. Thompson, D. Robinson and W. Hand were all at school when the Paris twins were, and Abi Olajuwon was as well, all in the WNBA at one point, or WNBA caliber players.

Sherri should have brought in more talent in the 06 and 07 classes, since she couldn’t OU lost to teams like A&M and Ole Miss...

Only Robinson and Thompson played in wnba regular season games...

Go back and look at the box scores for the games in which Courtney played, as well as the following year. The only time Courtney had a "healthy' contingent of guards was her freshman year when we were upset by Stanford with Smith scoring 34 or something like that. Even then, Chelsi had had knee surgery from which she never fully recovered the athleticism that she had shown as a freshman. Higgins had such knee problems that it made her a step slow to cover a walker. Brown became the guard that handled the ball.

The following year, all of them suffered injuries, and we essentially lost Brown, our point.

Then, if you look at who started, we lost Thompson late in the year. I think she played about six minutes in the final game. We got Hand, only to lose her to an injury. We ended up starting Stevenson at forward to replace (she had not been a starter) Amanda, and Hartman at guard.

We just never had five good healthy players at one time during the Paris/Abi years.

It's too bad that Abi had to ride the bench for three years straight. I wish she had red shirted at least her freshman year so we could have had her two years starting at center instead of just her senior year. From what I remember she was really good and made up for us losing the Paris twins the year before to graduation.

We actually had a lot of fans who wanted Joanna to replace Abi early in the season. Abi came on as the conference season began, reaching her peak at the end of her career. She was good, but never anything like Paris. She didn't have the aggression until mid-year her senior year. Originally, she might have been a better shooter. But, she never really developed what seemed to be pretty good talent in the McDonald's game.

+1

Great honor. She did all she could (some would say"would") for this program.

This is not a criticism, but I wonder if she ever paid her scholarship back as promised?
