We have 2 ships available for 2015. Do you think it is likely Sherri will sign one/two for 2015 or is it more likely she signs no one for 2015 and has 3 ships available for 2016?

I think that if she were to get someone that she really wanted for 2015, she might spring for that. I could see an offer to someone like Mompremier. But, most of the people that we are talking about are not a step up from what we already have, and we might be better off waiting for an opportunity with a class that has some potential stars. I don't see taking a chance on someone who is not in the sensational category.

I agree. Unless a world beater expresses a real interest then wait 'til 16.

If we do nothing, we will have fourteen on scholarship this year and thirteen the next. So, we need an extra party to occupy which spot on the bench?

I would like to see Sherri bring in an elite replacement for Sharane. At this time, I don't see that person on the roster.

I don't know that we are even recruiting that type of prospect. I've seen only guards and posts mentioned.

To me it's not about the last spot on the bench. Like most businesses, it's a numbers game. I'm sure there is a certain percent of signees that make a contribution. If you are running short a couple spots, then you are not maximizing your chances of hitting on a recruit. Now that doesn't mean sign someone just to fill up.

I agree. Any time you have open ships, that's an opportunity to sign an elite player that can take us to another level. We might not be able to sign one in 2016 so it could be a wasted opportunity to wait. But, I guess it's possible Sherri tried to recruit a great player for 2015 and wasn't able to.

The only issue I see with sitting out 2015 recruiting is that I'm convinced the talent battle at PG/SG/WG is going to lead to some exits due to playing time crunch.

I think that is almost a given. You can't have that many guards and keep them all happy.

I don't think OU is recruiting Beatrice Mompremier any more.

I think it would be hard to just sit out a year with no recruits. If there are no stars in 2015 interested and are some in 2016, I think you go looking for someone in 2015 that will fit in as a role player. For example, I would go look for a 3pt specialist. She might not ever be more than a role player at OU, but she can be a vital role against teams that play zone.
