Comparing current rosters 1 -14 on each team I would say Baylor and Texas are at the top with OU ahead of the rest of the pack with West Virginia and O-State close, but there is some distance between OU and the top two (even though we beat Texas the other night). Looking ahead Baylor and Texas will have strong recruiting classes coming in to add to what is already on campus. Comparing teams 1 -10 I would say Baylor is at the top with Texas right behind them and OU closing the gap. I would say with what we have coming in as in Mulkey, Dungee, and Rich (already on campus) it is a good start to compete with the top two and get back to Big 12 championships. My question is do you believe we can take chances on players like Shaya Kellogg, T'ona Edwards, LaNesia Williams, etc. or do we need to recruit at a higher level to bring in players rated as high or higher as Dungee and Mulkey were? Just my opinion, but I don't believe we can afford to bring in Kellogg or Edward types and hope they work out. Thoughts?

Really?

Lang/Boyette vs Vivi/Kay Kay: at this moment, I take Vivi as the best

Hosey or Atkins vs Maddie: Maddie destroyed both

Davenport/Rodrigo vs Gioya/Wyatt: Gioya

Taylor/Rodrigo/Sanders vs Peyton/LaNesia, close, but Peyton usually

McCarty vs Gabbi/T'Ona: this is the only position that I give to Texas, and not by much. McCarty is better offensively.

This is actually a question I have thought about. I don't know that it is possible to avoid having reserves who don't play much. Every team has them. I think it happens for two reasons 1) some players don't turn out to be as good as expected and 2) coaches have to have some practice players so they try to recruit the best practice players they can get realizing they may never contribute much in games. As Rocjunkie has said in the past, most coaches go about 8 players deep. Beyond that, you see too much of a dropoff in talent. In the game Saturday, Sherri went 10 deep but, LaNesia and Treece saw 3 and 5 minutes respectively. So, if the coach is only playing 8-9 players, that means 5 or so did not play. Of those who don't get to play, or play very little, some will want to leave the school while others will stick it out. Obviously, the key is, to have 5 truly quality players and 3 or so reserves who contribute well when they relieve a starter. Once in a while, a coach will get lucky and one or two of the reserves comes around and plays better than expected which is always a pleasant surprise. Our big problem now is, we don't have consistent scoring guards. They have been up down and all around. If we had 2 or 3 reserve guards who could consistently shoot and defend, it would take the pressure off the starters when they are struggling.
