Reschinding scholarships

Just to point out for the millionth time... Honore is no longer on the team.

Allen isn't going anywhere because he only has one year left and by all accounts is a great team guy.

Not to mention he's a big body that can be used in practice. Brings much more to the table at this point in time then both Hardrick and Willis.

I noticed Honore was walking in and out of the tunnel Saturday, dressed in shirt and tie, and sitting next to Omar on the tables next to where the Griffins sit.

If capel does not pull hardrick and Willis schollie I'm done.. That is absolutely killin us.. As our guys can play intense d in the first place but when their winded it's impossible.. I am in the camp of pulling allens as well because he contributes nothing if he can't play over my least favorite player ever.. Get a huge class of 6 guys... What say you all?

I don't know how many times I have to post on this board that Allen is NOT going anywhere. I am tired of this guy getting hounded when I've posted several times of why he isn't playing. Saying he contributes nothing is completely untrue. Are you in practice? Do you see what he provides in practice! Obviously not or you wouldn't make statements such as that. Big O has had some personal issues and just had a baby girl. That doesn't stop him from busting his butt in practice and giving 100% on the practice squad! There is also not another player who encourages the team more during games! So once again Allen is not having his scholly pulled, he isn't quitting, he will be here next year. Please lay off the kid!

Thoughts:

1.) Allen will be back (Zepp: Quitting? really?)...big body in practice, senior year, you don't "cut" him.
2.) Honore is not getting a scholarship, he may stay as a walk-on, but he won't get a schollie.
3.) If Hardrick was the only big body for practice I would say keep him, but I'm sorry, his spot is just a wasted schollie. Capel needs to be honest with him, and more importantly, Kyle needs to be honest with himself. Capel can find him a program to showcase his skills...either that or make the switch to a walk-on. It's not like Hardrick is killing it in the classroom.
4.) Willis is gone, for his own sake, I hope he does. If he continues to sit on the bench and show no signs of improvement it just proves that he has little/no competitive spirit. I appreciate his time here he would fit in great at a SoCon school.

If the above four things happen, that means we have at least 4 schollies to give, possibly five (WW going pro). Guess I am just not as down as other when thinking about next year's season. I don't think we will get Jones, but the prospects of Aziz, back-up JUCO PG, another post and finding the best player available whether in JUCO or HS is fine with me.

Everyone says they are worried about next year's team being the same as this year's (mentally), don't see that. We're possibly adding 6 new players, which would completely change the dynamic...in addition to the fact Tiny has shown some fire (verbally) for the first time all season. PT will be up for grabs, so practices will be competitive, which is always beneficial for the final product on the floor.

I don't want you ever to represent the University of Oklahoma with those values.

I don't know if Allen wants to play right now. There's gotta be a reason a 6-10 guy that is on scholarship has gotten zero minutes. He has other things more important on his mind than basketball right now. I agree that we won't cut him. I'm worried about next year because I don't see any talent on the defensive end especially. If anything we've gotten worse on defense as the year goes on. I don't think practice is getting to these guys on defense. I think they'll always be the same lousy team on defense.

Yeah, he's gone like 80 % of all the guys he has recruited where are they now.? If it were not for Blake Capel would already be gone and we would be looking forward to next year. I know he is a good person and a nice guy but a good Basketball Coach he is not.

You're talking about two of our post guys dropping 50+ pounds, bringing in an experienced JUCO PG (who is known for his defense), a potential shot-blocking center and two other players.

This whole "the team will be the exact same" BS is nonsense. When you add 2-3 players, the team dynamics change. When you add possibly 6 or 7, that is a complete make-over. Any assumptions are premature.

He wants to play, I just answered your question with my post above.

No one saying he is GREAT coach, but to say he is not good is uninformed.

Ask VCU.

Seriously? Look at what he did at VCU! He is a good basketball coach.

VCU has actually been better since he left.
