taking away scholarships just isnt right to these kids. its up to coach and the staff to recruit the proper players.
VCU has actually been better since he left.

This.
Ultimately it is on the Coach to recruit good players into the program; not right to punish STUDENT athletes by pulling thier scholarships unless they get in trouble or are failing to make thier grades.
Wrong. Those bleedin' hearts you're referring to told you WHY Capel honored Hardrick's scholarship. I don't recall anyone saying he should continue to do it for the duration of his eligibility. Some of us even said it would be in Kyle's best interest to transfer if he wants to play.
If capel does not pull hardrick and Willis schollie I'm done.. That is absolutely killin us.. As our guys can play intense d in the first place but when their winded it's impossible.. I am in the camp of pulling allens as well because he contributes nothing if he can't play over my least favorite player ever.. Get a huge class of 6 guys... What say you all?
But you don't know why Capel honored Hardrick's scholarship. You are merely speculating and trying to come up with the scenario that in your mind looks best for Capel. It could just as easily be that Jeff Capel thought Hardrick could contribute. It could be what you are saying. You simply don't know.
I would have had zero problem with Capel not offering Hardrick. Now that he has, I think the kid has a right to play for the team as long as he stays out of trouble, makes his grades and works hard. There have been plenty of guys play basketball for OU that never made any significant contribution in games.
Seriously? Look at what he did at VCU! He is a good basketball coach.

Lots of the players Anthony Grant had success with were Capel recruits. VCU has been good the past few years, but Shaka hasn't got them to the dance since Capel's crew left.
This isn't a charity, it's D-1 basketball. Scholarships are only 1 year anyway and they are renewed each year. We gave him a free year of college and he got to practice with a top 25 program for that entire year. Now it's time if they can't contribute to find them someplace else to go, or if they want to stay, they get to pay for it.
Scholarships aren't like handouts. I'm sorry but that's the way it is.
My guess is that anyone who WANTS to be here, will stay. Thing is, I have a hunch that things will change this offseason, and I don't know that these guys (especially the burger boys and Willis) will like the changes enough to want to stay. If the other guys want to stay and help, I'm all for it. I don't agree with yanking a scholarship due to ability. That's Coach's job to evaluate that talent up front. If he didn't do that well, it's not the kid's fault. But if they don't want to work their tails off, I want them gone. That includes TMG, Tiny & Willie.
How can you say this? Capel never once pulled TMG or WW for that matter and rarely pulled Tiny (did a few times) for laziness on the court. Do you think he will wake up today or tomorrow a different person?
People don't change like that, especially a late 30's person. Capel isn't intense enough to make mass changes in the way he handles players.
Having said this, I hope he does change things...just don't see it happening. Hopefully I'm wrong.
This is an assumption...yourself nor I have no idea how someone like Capel will react to a 13-18 season. The only guarantee I have is that he will change something about his approach, because obviously the one taken this year doesn't work.
You may be too young to remember this, but Eddie Sutton profited at OSU with Leonard Hamilton's recruits. Hamilton recruited Byron Houston and Royce Jeffries to osu, but he couldn't coach them very well. So, he left and Sutton was hired.
Hamilton has become a better coach, now whether that's because he just facilitates and recruits and lets his assistants coach or if he actually learned how to coach (is that possible?), he is a much better coach now.
Maybe Capel is like Leonard Hamilton? This team is the most talented losing team in this conference since Leonard Hamilton's teams at osu in the late 80's.
That's the whole problem. Why wait until the season is over to react or respond? Why not start making changes when the losing started, say 9 games ago?
He won't change, I can promise you. If TMG returns and Tiny returns, we will watch the same lazy defense from both and neither will get pulled.
Past results is an indicator of future performance.

Everything changes, everyone changes, perfect example, though football related, the Sooners 1999 defense vs. the Sooners 2000 defense. In 1999 we had big leads on teams and ended up losing games because the "D" lacked stoutness. Different story in 2000.
(Sorry, that should have been B.O.B.)
