RIP Bob Barry Sr

Only met him a few times but he was such an incredibly nice, humble and gracious man.

Some tweets on Bob Barry Sr's passing...

OU Basketball SID Mike Houck:

Had the incredible opportunity to work side-by-side w/ Bob Barry Sr. the last 10 years. Words can't express how great a man he was or how much he'll be missed by all who came in contact w/ him. Such spirit. Thx for everything, Bob, but mostly for being a friend.

Tyler Neal:

Can't believe the news on Bob Barry Sr. What a great personality. So blessed to have the opportunity to become close with him. #TheLegend

Kelvin Sampson:

Former OU hoops coach Kelvin Sampson on the passing of legend Bob Barry Sr. "Sads news ... owe a lot to that man! Loved him dearly ..."

Kellen Sampson:

Coming home from Nebraska once weather was bad and plane was rocking. But Mr. Barry slept. I knew if he wasn't worried I shouldn't be either

Jeff Capel:

Saddened and shocked about the awful news about my friend, Bob Barry, Sr. Words can't explain the hurt I feel. He was just like my grandpa!

Renzi Stone:

class act and one of my favorite people while @UofOklahoma. Prayers for @bbjsports family.

My heartfelt prayers go out to the Barry family. He was one of the truly good guys in sports. RIP BBS!

"He knocked the bottom out of it!"

David Boren:

"Bob Barry represented the best of the Sooner spirit. With his contagious enthusiasm, he was one of the best sports broadcast journalists in the entire nation. He was loved by Oklahomans all across our entire state and will be missed by all of us."

Dave Sittler:

The rare fact Bob Barry, Sr., was beloved on BOTH sides of Bedlam and in the media says how special he was and why so many are heartbroken.

How about them apples! RIP Mr. Barry.

Whenever we had a shot at a national championship I would listen to the radio broadcast and mute the tv because the national media gets irritating when OU is in the title hunt. When Musberger started using the term Sooner Nation in 2000 is when I switched back to Bob Barry. Even when it was a blowout sometimes you would stay tuned in just to hear him say "Touchdown Oklahoma!"

RIP, Mr. Barry.

My favorite line was when a three would go in, and he would go, "BANG!"

This is a sad day for OU fans! I had the opportunity to spend some time with Bob a few years back. He was such a gracious, kind and caring man, I came away feeling that I had known him forever.

My prayers go out to his family! I know they will miss him greatly.
