What are some realistic expectations for the young man? Should we be concerned about his lack of scoring / missing practice over the summer? I am not as plugged in as I once was.

I’m not aware of him missing any practice over the summer. He played in both fake games. Unless I’m forgetting something, the only practice time he missed was when he was out for two or three days last week.

The fact he is the 2nd post is a concern. I have no doubt he has the talent but can he rise to the occasion as a freshman? I’m not sure.

I voiced my concerns about him back when we signed him.

I'm not downplaying his long-term ceiling.

But right now? He's a kid that isn't overly athletic that doesn't have much of any offensive game other than put-backs and dunks.

Nobody wanted to admit it at the time, but his "highlight-reel" really wasn't all that impressive.

We don't need him to score. Our entire roster is guys that can (or should be able to) score.

He just needs to be able to screen, roll, score around the rim a little bit, but more importantly, defend and rebound.

TBF to him, he’s only played in two real games…and both have been after he tweaked his knee, so I’m not sure he’s quite 100% yet. He did show some promise in those “fake games”, with 3 blocks against Wisky.

If he can just continue to heal and improve to the point he’s giving us maybe 12-15 mins of solid play, and maybe avg a few rebounds and get a block here and there…with an occasional dunk or put back, that will help a lot.

It does seem like a few are already ready to give up on a few of these kids and even the potential of the team in general. I get it, we haven’t played great yet…but teams in Nov vs. Feb are always much different. How much better will we get?? I dunno, but looking forward to watching.

I hope people haven’t given up on Rogers. I definitely haven’t and don’t think others have. I think the concern is that even in a best case scenario, he’s clearly not the kind of freshman who is ready to play a huge role on a good team. But because of our roster construction, he almost has to play meaningful minutes, unless we are just going to go small whenever Mo is off the court. I just pray Mo stays healthy. Last year, we got better when Sam got hurt because it forced Moser to finally start Mo. This season, we would be sunk if we have to go to plan B.

A year ago Wague was practically unplayable. Gotta give Rogers time to learn. It'll be a rough year for him most likely.

Go away with all that reasonable talk. What you see in the first week of the season is what you get rest of the way.
