Romero: 1 of only 3 big men who could play for every OU coach since Tubbs

If you are talking about guys that would start in all 3 then your list narrows.
Tubbs era - Wayman Tisdale, Darryl Kennedy, Jeff Webster, Stacey King, Harvey Grant, Skeeter Henry, David Johnson,

Kelvin era Ace McGee, Taj Gray, Eduardo Najera, Ryan Humphrey, Nate Carter(I count him in this era since he's a Kelvin recruit)

Post Sampson Blake Griffin and Romero Osby. If M'baye improves his game a bit maybe he could be added in the future.

Maybe I would add Jabari Brown too but I'm not sure he could score with the rest of that list which is what Tubbs wants the most. Tubbs was all about guys that could put up points and if a big man didn't do that he would just come off the bench. Tony Martin who was mentioned earlier in this thread was an example of this. Couldn't consistently score so he was a bench guy most of his career and scored 11.1 ppg in his best season. There's a lot of Tubbs era guys I missed out on I'm sure.

I agree with this and that is what I was implying, but didn't state in the title -- players of Sampson/Capel/Kruger who could also start for Tubbs. I make this comparison because the 4 coaches really didn't have many similarities in the style of play they wanted from their teams, IMO. Tubbs was all about scoring and then using the press to force the pace. Sampson coached players to by physical and play lockdown defense. Capel didn't want to play any defense, and Kruger is kind of a hybrid between Tubbs and Sampson, IMO.

IMO, Bookout wasn't athletic enough to be a starter on Tubbs' team. He was a solid rebounder and good around the rim, but not a great defender. Solid player, but far from spectacular and overrated by too many OU fans IMO.

Jabari would have gotten more minutes than Bookout because of his defense and other athletic ability.

I agree with your premise, however, I would think that Tubbs would have made Bookout run and run and run some of his babyfat off. That way he could jump higher and keep up instead of skipping down the floor. But even if he didn't slim down, Tubbs had some stocky big men, Sallier was a wide body and even Wayman had a big butt.

Sallier was significantly more athletic than Bookout IMO.

Taj would have been great in Tubbs' system. I really don't see Bookout playing a significant role in Tubbs' system.

Yanish played for Tubbs and started 5 games. I think Bookout would have started for Tubbs.

So basically every guy that has started for multiple years and had any success at all would start for all the last four coaches?

Osby, M'Bay, Griffin, Bookout, Gray, McGhee, Brown, Najera, Minor, Sallier, Davis, Webster, King, Grant, Kennedy, and Tisdale.

Who did I leave out? Stone, Fitzgerald, Wylie, Holmes, anyone else?

Johnny Gilbert? Avila? Szendrei? Patilla?

sallier was one of my favorite players during the Tubbs era...I have always thought that if he had not injured his knee in the Big 8 semi-finals against Kansas that the 1992 team would have been a legitimate final four contender.

Unfortunately OU basketball has had a lot of guys over the years that got hurt, and couldn't live up to their potential, at least in part, due to that injury.

Bobby Jo Evans
Kelly Newton
Victor Avila
Austin Johnson

I'm sure there are others, but those guys stand out in my mind.

Bobby Jo Evans would have really been good if his knees would have held up. Didn't he have to give up basketball after a couple of years at OU? Seems like he couldn't play or practice for 2 consecutive days because they bothered him so much.

Yep. :(

He is always the first name that comes to mind when I think of injuries. Kid had loads of potential.
